As the ic on the main control board is gone weak and needs replacement.the IC368JC controls the picture activity and settings in the tv.if this IC fails nothing gets adjusted.so it needs a replacemt from a professional.
thanks.

Hi there.

Try going to the TV menu and locate the reset option on the settings menu.

If the problem is not fixed after TV reset, then there is an internal fault , and the TV must be repaired.

Hi, Open the unit and look for any burnt or defective components.
Replace them if you find anything and try.

You can leave tv unplugged for at least 4 hours. This is what is called a "master reset".
If this does not correct the problem, that you may have a bad system board which will have to be tested by tech.
Check your menu settings to see if you have a "default" setting to set tv back to origional settings. Also you may want to check the picture settings in the menu, to see if they look familiar or set to your standards.

you must leave unplugged for AT LEAST 4 HOURS! Better yet overnight.
30 minutes is just not enough time for the reset. All power must have time to drain from capacitors and power supply.

if a system electronical board component has burnt out, you would not visually be able to see the bad part. You will have to have your television tested by a tv repairman.

I do believe the power surge has fried a component.

Try leaving your TV unplugged OVERNIGHT.

I would try different settings and see if it improves. I do believe it is some setting that is causing the problem. If the pic in pic is working, that I highly doubt there is anything wrong physicall with the tv and that the problem is just a setting.

Try reset .

Unplug the unit from power chord for 30 minutes and plug back the power chord to the unit .
This will reset your unit .

It seems that the back light is malfunctioning or needs to be replaced the fact that it turns off after a few seconds indicates that is getting over heated.

Carefully remove the back and check all of the connectors where ribbon cables are attached to the various boards.
Try resetting them.

Just go to settings in your tv and restore to factory settings .

Factory settings will delete your current settings .

I have a Sony, 54" Projection Screen HDTV that I bought in 2002. I believe it is a 1080i. When I am waatching TV, I notice that when the screen is mostly black, for instance a night scene, the black areas...

Confirm the actual model number as the one indicated in the title is not HD.

Some of these sets had bad picture tubes that on a black screen or blank video input may in your case show faint curved lines and or some color (red, green or blue) present in the background.

If this is the case there is a fairly simple way to attempt to adjust something for this--not in the customer menu but fairly easy to get at and try.

Most of these sets were KP51ws500, 57500 etc.

No picture but all the menu screens come on and look normal sometimes the picture will come on for a short period of time. and then shut off

if the TV dose not detect a viable video signal it will mute the sound and blank the video there is a preset minimum level that enables the audio and video, insure that the video source is of good quality and the cable you are using is good, if it is than you may have a problem in the video processing circuits of your TV, the good menu screens indicate this may be the fault,,, Good luck

Mitshubishi VS-6041 No picture, sound ok

It has been my experience with that model mitsubishi that the usual culprit is loss of vertical sweep. If the beams in the picture tubes stops moving up and down this is detected by the micro processor and the video is blanked, but the set is not shut down. The usual cause of loss of vertical sweep is bad solder connections on the deflection yokes or a failed vertical output IC.

Sounds like the vertical output IC causing the CRTs to blank you would still have audio and on screen display. Try resoldering the vertical output IC.Thats a common problem
