Question about Sony DVP-NS50P DVD Player
I have a Sony DVD player on my computer with playback problems.
Every time I try to play a movie the color is only purple and pink, with a occasional burst of yellow. I have no problems with any games. I have tried everything including contacting Windows about this problem with no results. I use to watch movies all the time. Now the color is crazy.
I don't know if I should buy a new DVD player or what. Can you help me ?? Any answer would be appreciated. Thank You

If you are using the s-video jack to connect the DVD to the TV, the jack could be loose or the wire could be bad. The s-video cable has 2 signals, the black-and-white (luminance) and the color (chroma). If the chroma signal is not getting through, the picture will be in black and white.

Try running a dvd cleaner through it first, before trying anything else (the type that looks like a DVD with a brush underneath).
The regular DVD might have been a fluke (scratches, rental?, burned dvd?)
Was there anything special about the new Blu-Ray Disc - what was the tile? On certain titles, you may need the firmware upgrade found at:

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.
