During set-up of my brand new hp officejet j4680 all-in-one, the process has stuck at "please wait, aligning cartridges". I may have hit the "ok" button too soon after fitting the cartridges.----HELP. bigboab

Try shutting down the printer, disconnect from power and let sit 5 mins, reconnect and power on. If that doesn't work you should check to see that the cartridges are installed properly. Remove, reinstall, and see if that works....

Are the cartridges used, genuine HP cartridges? I know that on HP and Canon printers that the brand name cartridges seem to work better than the aftermarket ones.

My HP Officejet 4500 keeps telling my to align my printer cartridges and I have done it several times. After I align them and print something it requires me to align them again.

Try removing the cartridges, closing the printer, and disconnect the power. Let sit for at least 10 minutes, then hook up the power, wait until it stops making noises, the reinstall the cartridges, black first, then color, and if the alignment comes up again, press cancel. This should remove the error.

Hi,

Remove the Cartridges and clean the Electrical contacts ( golden points ) on the cartridges
Power off the Printer
If possible clean the contact inside the printer cartridge slot with cue tip.
Power on the printer and reinsert the cartridges.
It should print the alignment sheet.
Place the alignment sheet face down on the Scanner bed and press OK button on printer front panel.

If this does not work, Press the Setup button ( Ranch like symbol )
Scroll down to TOOLS - Press OK
Choose Align Cartridge/Printer - Press OK

OfficeJet G85xi cartirdges will not align

Could be one of two things....

1 - you may have bad cartridges (usually the color)...when the machine does an alignment it looks for specific marks on the paper...ie..green check marks before each line etc...if the correct marks are not there you will get an alignment failure...if the green check marks are there etc then you have a different problem...first replace color cartridge with a HP Brand cartridge

2- spot sensor on the side of carriage is not working...this is the little blue/green light that comes on during alignment. Its what reads the markings on paper so if the markings are correctly there and you still get this error then the spot sensor needs to be replaced. Simple fix that u can do. We sell the spot sensor for $15

Alignment after new cartridge

Hi I think that you will need to clean the gold dots on the printer carriage or if not done so remove the blue tape from the cartridge or if you are trying to use refills install some originals as this may help.

Hope this helps'
