Re: refrig/freezer just quite working?
The defrost timer is located in the control panel in the fresh food section.
Look up under the panel and see a opening slightly smaller than a dime.
Put the blade of a butter knife in there and turn clockwise a quarter turn.
If the fridge starts working, replace the defrost timer.

The fan in the freezer may have stopped working. Or it could be the defrost drain tube is stopped up. Remove the rear plate in the freezer to expose the fan motor. With the rear cover off You can see if the freezer box has frozen over the drain. If so unplug refrigerator use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Keep heating the drain area until water runs down through the drain. Fan motors are available by model number on line or at local appliance stores.
WR55X10942 Main Control Board WR55X10942 Main Control Board This sounds like motherboard failure. I am not sure what your model number is but that will be important should you have someone to help repair your refrigerator. These problems are common on the Artica Profile Models. I will be here to help you repair if you should choose, Thanks Sea Breeze
At the refrig controls , the freezer control , controls how much air goes into the refrigerator section . Open the refrig door , and up at the top left , put your hand over the damper (air vent) . Turn the freezer control from high to low , and feel the difference in the air flow . If you turn your freezer control to a lower setting , less cold air will enter the refrig . Think of it as : the freezer control adjusts the temperature , and the refrig control , tells how long to run the compressor . In actuality , this is how it works . However , with the dial (refrigerator thermostat) in the off position and refrig still running , this indicates a bad thermostat . Pt # 2198202 .
I have seen this happen so many times with all appliances.
First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer. The settings may both be numbers however, they work the same way as described above.
Now, why is that cold air not getting over to the Ref side? 1. The little door is not open. check your control setting. You should be able to feel air coming through the channel on the Ref side.
2. The fan in the freezer is not working. You can hear this fan running when you open the freezer.
3. The coils on the freezer side are clogged with ice which won't let the fan circulate the air over to the Ref side. This is a failure of the defrost system but, this would also cause the freezer side to not get cold after 2 weeks.
it.s the frezer that makes the refer cold.the evap fan in the frezer moves that chilled air to the refer.if that fan is slow or any blockage inthe air ways it slows that process. Also the frezer should be close to 0 degrees if theres a defrost prob that would make fresh food warmer
ok renato i believe in teaching so here is refrigeration 101 first the freezer does all the colling for the whole unit there is nothing in the refrigerator that cools its control runs a damper door like on a wood stove or fireplace at what we call the mid point setting the middle point the fridge should be about 35to40 degrees food starts spoiling at 42 the freezer should be about -8 to 2degrees the freezer has the only true thermostat that controls the compressor it has a cut in cut out temp and they are filled with freon like the unit and are subject to leaks at which time they malfunction now you can check the freezer for temp at mid point setting if its way below 8 degrees replace the freezer side thermostat which im betting is bad any way and not cutting out now blambnm email me at email@example.com and we will talk ive never seen a whirl pool unit with out a freezer so you must be in another country im in the usa but we can fix yours too ill just need more info ok
if the freezer section is still working ok then check for ice build up inside freezer on the back wall, its possible that the unit is not defrosting and ice is building up on the cooling coils, the most common culprit is the def thermostat. easiest way for you to get it going again fast is to manually def the coil.
remove the 2 screws about half way down the back freezer wall. then using a blow dryer def the ice from the coil.
since this refrig has an electronic def control i would recomend calling a reputable service company to check it further for you..
