It is kinda difficult without some other hardware....Need either a pc tower with a laptop hd ide adaptor to hook it up to the pc and run a ghost program on it....you can get an external usb/firewire hd enclosure, run the dos version of ghost and clone the drive that way. By the time you buy the stuff to do it, you might want to pay a technician to do it.....If you buy the enclosure, make sure it is for a laptop hd, and not a tower size....

Hi,

There are 2 ways where you can transfer the contents.

1. You can use an external hard disk to transfer the contents and then you can reinstall the programs.

2. Attach one more hard disk (wat we call as secondary hdd), transfer all the contents and then reinstall.

Macrium Reflect is one method, it can "clone" your hard drive to another hard drive without having to re-install any of your programs.

and best of all it is free!!!

I hope this helps,
Thanks David

Hi dombarca...
Go to the website below and you can see the Specs for your laptop.
Yes you can use a larger HD to 120gb...
Just be sure the Storage controller type (HD) is IDE not SATA.

Will a hp compaq 6735s support spore?

This is something simple you can do yourself. In the future, look up your model laptop then the specs on game, use google.

"HP Compaq 6735s spec"
http://www.cdfreaks.com/hardware/product/86792-HP-Compaq-6735s-Notebook-PC.html

Processor Processor family AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile Processor RM-70 Processor clock speed 2000 MHz

Memory Memory upgrade <8192 MB GB Internal memory 2048 MB

Video Video card features ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 Video modes resolution 1280 x 800 WXGA Disk drive Total storage capacity 160 GB

"Spore spec"
http://www.spore.com/what/specs_spore

  • FOR WINDOWS VISTA
  • * 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
  • * 768 MB RAM
  • * A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
  • * At least 4 GB of hard drive space, with at least 1 GB additional space for creations.
Everything seems good, the only thing is how much HD space you have.
My computer>Roll over your mouse above the C drive and you will see how much is free out of your 160gb space.

Installing a new HD will I have to re-install windows?????

No, a new hard drive means you'll have to re-install Windows from the CD's that originally came with the notebook (or a retail copy of Windows as well) and all of the programs and files that you had before.  A new hard drive is totally blank.

Need to reinstall origional programs

If you do not have the original disks and each system has usb ports, obtain a usb to usb cable and the old system should appear as an additional hard drive on the new system where you can simply drag and drop content from one system to another.

Do not transfer the system files to your new system, only the program and data files.

Larger HD

Hi,

Most hard drives of any brand would fit inside your laptop. The size is likewise "free for all". Though the rule of thumb would be "go next size higher" making a 120 Gb a logical choice. There is nothing stopping you thou in installing a 250 Gb or higher.

Good luck and kind regards.
