Question about Acer Aspire 4315 Notebook

Problem's with built in wireless card

I have a built in wireless card on my Acer Aspire 4315 series computer, and even though I can connect locally, I can't connect to the internet. It can see other networks, it can connect locally, I'm running as administrator, the laptop is in fine condition, but it still won't connect to the internet (and I have been able to do so in the past to the same network used in my house). I'm running on vista. The network is secured, but I have the password. I have tried connecting to unsecured networks, and it won't work. The secured network is the one I've been connecting to for almost a year now.

To my knowledge yes. I haven't changed any settings with it since I was able to connect with it, and it seems to be configured correctly.

Alright, where can I find the software for the driver? And how exactly would I go about uninstalling it? (I don't think I've seen it in ADD/REMOVE programs :S).

Apparently its Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter

Can't you just go to add remove programs to remove norton? Granted, my Norton anti-virus subscription ran out before this started happening. I will try to reinstall the driver as well as uninstalling norton though.

There are a number of things that can cause this. The most common as as follows.

1) Either your computer or wireless modem is being effected by mains interference. Make sure that all power cables are clear of your modem and computer, except those essential to run the units.

2) Your computer is picking up another local wireless modem signal on the same channel. Try changing channels.

3) Your modem drivers need updating. Visit the manufacturer's website and download the latest driver.

4) Your computer is too far away from your wireless modem.

There are numerous other reasons, but it is worth trying the obvious first. The most common of all is mains or power cable interference.

I can't connect my Acer Aspire One netbook to connect to the internet wirelessly!!!

Ensure that you check the device manager and if it shows up, then uninstall it, reboot and try to re-install the device.

Another choice is to add a USB wireless antenna to perhaps narrow down the defective wireless card.

Good luck

Can't connect to internet with built in wireless

Do you have Windows XP, and did you install Service Pack 3? If so, you may need to go to the wireless card's manufacturer's site and download an updated driver (or if not available, reinstall the original driver). SP3 puts in a file that is incompatible with many wireless cards.
