Question about Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder/VCR

2 Answers

Is it possible to record one show, while watching another ??

The instruction manual is very difficult to follow and understand.
We need simple instructions for setting the time on our new VCR,
and have been told that we can't record a show, at the same time we're
watching another.

Thank you for your quick response.

You need to put a cable splitter on the cable. One side goes to the TV. The other side goes to the recorder. The output of the recorder goes to one of the alternate inputs on the TV. Set the recorder for whatever channel you want to record using its internal tuner. Use the TV tuner to watch a show live. Later, set the TV input to whatever you connected the recorder output to and watch your recording. You will probably need to do this to see the recorder menu to set up the recording.

Its true that you cannot record a show and watch one at the same time you need a twin tuner for that and the dmr-ez47 has only one. and as for recording just click your direct nav select the show you wont to record in the list and click ok the show should then be set to record :D hope this helps

Will record but not playback on another dvd player

Hi Catherine - There are two possible reasons for this:

The first is that some DVD readers have a difficult time with some "home made" DVD discs, sometimes having problems with certain brands of media.

I think more likely in this case is that you are not FINALIZING the disc after recording it.

From the unit's user manual are the instructions for this:

Cannot record whilst watching another channel

It requires two tuners to do what you want. Unless the DVD recorder has a built-in tuner, this is not possible.
Satellite company DVRs can do this because they can have multiple tuners inside them.

I have a Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD recorder. I follow instructions on how to finalize recorded DVD but it doesn't work. I set up to finalize at the beginning and it won't work. When I try to finalize at the...

what you do after you label the recording you play the dvd selecting the image and then play then stop it then select setup.
The instruction book doesn't follow through properly and I lost a dvd that way before I realized what it was after trying on a test DVD different things to get back to the setup screen that was supposed to have the finalize on it.
It's also a 1/4 inch to wide to fit on my shelf so it sits on top and blocks the remote sensor on the tv and makes tv control a bit difficult. The copies if you get them right at the fastest speed are very good though.
Many VCR's are protected from copy. Some start with that right away disabling the copy process others wait till thee film is half recorded. I understand some makes don't respect the copy proofing on tapes. I am not so experienced to say for sure that is so.
