Display doesn't illuminate on flipdown faceplate

I have a Kenwood KDC-W5534U and the display on the flip down faceplate doesn't light up all of a sudden. I can still use the controls, ie CD player, radio, but can't see what I am displaying. Have I turned off something by mistake as it has always worked perfectly.

Has unit gotten very cold lately? If faceplate is removable, remove it and clean the brass terminals with a CLEAN pencil eraser, wiking sure to blow off any rubber "crumbs" when finished.

KDC-w3041 says PROTECTION when i turn it on

Sometimes if the power is removed it requires a code to be input, to remove the protection, you will have to contact Kenwood, and ask for the code to clear it. This is an anti theft feature. Often the car dealers have these, or try an auto-electrician.. BTW your English is good.

Am I able to replace a broken faceplate? Model KDC - 133

Yes, however it may not be "cost effective" Call any Kenwood dealer and they can quote it out for you. Hope this helps.

Unlock security Code Kenwood KDC-MP3035

To reset the code do the following:

1) Turn on the car.
2) The faceplate rotates out and the CODE - - - - prompt appears.
3) Press >>' and Auto keys simultaneously on the faceplate and hold for 4 seconds. (If the faceplate rotates back into the console push on the upper left top edge of the faceplate and it will flip back around. Press the Eject button and then try it again.)
4) The screen will still say CODE, but the - - - - will disappear! When this happens press the 5 key on the remote twice and it enters a K on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
5) Press the 2 key on the remote three times and it enters a C on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
6) Press the 2 key on the remote once and it enters an A on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
7) Press the 7 key on the remote twice and it enters an R on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
8) The radio goes into All Off mode and you are set! Hit the SRC button on the faceplate to select CD, Radio, etc.

The display has failed - Kenwood DPX501U car cd receiver

Same problem as many people who own the kenwood dpx501u head unit. The display has stopped working, pressed the reset button and this has done nothing. Is this a common fault?
