1) Try to download and install a free driver updater software, e.g. http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/index.htm - let it scan and update all your missing drivers - it may fix USB general problems if this causes also the mouse problems.
2) If it doesn't help - then there might be problem with the laser beam of your mouse (check the laser beam while the mouse is still moving, and then compare it with the beam when the mouse has stopped moving, maybe the laser beam is out). In this situation - bring it to the warranty repair service or ask for replacement from your seller.

I had the same mouse, and the exact same problem happened to me, in the middle of Half Life 2, only 5 months after buying it.
Unfortunately I had lost my receipt. If you still have the reciept or proof of purchase, Logitech does have a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. You may want to send it to Logitech and get a replacement.
You can try to open the mouse up and see if you can find the component that doesn't allow the right click to work anymore, but it may be difficult to open, and if you are within the 1 year warranty, opening it up will void that warranty. I remember taking a look at it and from my memory there is no screws holding the mouse together and would be a hassle trying to crack it open and try to fix the button. I ended up just going to the store and purchasing a new mouse.
If you are talking about the left mouse button not on the sides, your mouse may have some buildup in the mouse on the sensor that says it was being touched. if you remove the screws and blow it out with a can of air, it may resolve the issue if not i would check the warranty and see about getting it replaced if there is no warranty. If you are talking about the mouse buttons on the left side of the mouse, you need to install the software from the following site. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/441/135&cl=us,en I would follow the instructions and update the firmware and then install the setpoint software as well. If it still doesn't the mouse will need to be replaced.
If you are using Vista Operating System this is a common problem. !. Go to MY COMPUTER and RIGHT CLICK on it. 2. Then CLICK on PROPERTIES. 3. Next CLICK on DEVICE MANAGER. 4.Next CLICK on CONTINUE. 5. CLICK on the HID HUMAN INTERFACE DEVICE +. 6.Right CLICK on the HID NON-USER INPUT DATA FILTER. 7. Click on UPDATE DRIVER SOFTWARE. 8. When the screen comes up CLICK on SEARCH AUTOMATICALLY for UPDATED DRIVER SOFTWARE.
When finished the screen saver should work properly. Bud
