Question about Bissell 9200 Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

Won't spray Checked everything four times and nothing is clogged. It sprays once in a while but only for a few seconds. I'm about to toss it and buy a hoover unless someone can help me trouble shoot now.

My Bissell 9200 won't spray water or soap solution. I ordered a pump for around $24.00, am trying to put everything back together. Not sure if this is the problem. vacuums24x7.com has parts. If anyone knows where I can get a schematic for this unit it would be helpful.

Ensure you have water in tank and solution (or water in solution tank). When you start the vacuum up, the pump starts to prime itself. If you have air in the system, it takes a little longer to prime. Allow the vacuum to run for 1 minute before attempting to pull the trigger. Then pull the trigger.
If this doesn't work, you'll need to open the unit up and check the hoses for any clogs, and next test the pump to see if it is functioning.

Have you checked the tiny hole that the spray comes out of. I have one and sometimes it becomes clogged. I take a small needle and run it thru it.

Rug doctor won't spray water

I had the same thing happen to mine. I looked at the hose in the water tank and the screen at the end if the hose was slimy and clogged. I took the screen off and cleaned it up, put everything back together and it works like new again. Only 2 screws and a screen.

Won't spray solution

if its not spraying solution there are two possible problems,

1. the solution carrying line that runs from the unit along inside the hose could be blocked.
2.there mite be a clog somewhere inside the solution tank or leading from the solution tank

The heater is glogged trust me. It is the size of a dollar bill with seven screws. take it apart and clean the water path also take a small drill bit to the ports of the heater.

Bissell Proheat only sprays for a few seconds.

When was the last time you changed the flat belt? Even if it isn't broken it could be so stretched out that when the brush hits the floor it slows or stops the pump from spraying. If its a new belt then and your sure there arent any clog's that usually means the pump is bad. Also if youve ever used anything other than bissell shampoo in the machine it could have ruined the pump as well.

Cleaner suddenly stopped working

Based on the other solutions I read, I also traced the problem to clogged input/output ports to the heater. I hadn't used the cleaner for about 2 years and the ports were blocked by calcium and mineral deposits. I took the manifold cover off the bottom of the heater and carefully reamed the ports out with a finishing nail. I then cleaned the ports and manifold with Lime-Away to dissolve any other deposits. I put it back together (with no parts left over!) and it works fine.
