Have a Samsung RF217ACRS refrigerator that is collecting water in the left bin? I do have an ice maker.

the defrost drain is stopped up...the simplest way to start is to remove food, unplug frig and open both doors for 24 hrs. a fan blowing into ref will help this process. after 24 hrs remove the shelving so you can get to the back panel... there will be 3 screws 1 on the bottom left and 1 on the bottom right corners, the 3rd is located about 2/3 of the way up the panel in the center. this screw has a square plug covering it.. after screw removal "pop" the cover being careful of the wiring at the top, after unplugging the 2 plugs set panel to the side out of the way.... now you are looking at the evaporator, just under the evap you should see a hole, this is the defrost drain.. if there is any ice in the trough remove it, with hot water if need be. once the drain is open pour 2-3 glasses of hot water down the drain to flush out.. if water wont pour through drain, I use air pressure to clear drain, if u don't have an air tank you can use a hose that you blow through to clear drain.......I hope this helps.......Ken

I keep finding about 1/8 inch of water in the vegetable bins of my Whirlpool fridge, and 1/4 inch water below the bins. Why?

Remove the food and the ice maker from the freezer ( if equiped ) . Remove the rear freezer panel . Using a hair dryer , start in the middle , below the coils , defrosting , until you see the drain hole . Use hot water to help defrost the hole . Once water starts going thru the hole , use a small hose inserted into the hole , and blow thru , to remove any unseen debris in the drain line . Use an ALUMINUM or COPPER solid wire , 14-16 guage , with the insulation completely off , and insert one end into the drain hole as far as possible without any force . Wrap the other end about 1 1/2 to 2 turns , around the black rod (defrost heater) , above the hole . When refrig goes into defrost , the heat will transfer from the heater , to the wire , keeping the hole from freezing up again .

The drain at the center-base of the freezer freezes shut with ice. Water accumulates on the frig shelves and under the veg bins. Why and what to do? Frig is a Whirlpool 21 cu-ft ET1CHMXKB03 built in 2004.

There is supposed to be a defrost element that goes through the first part of the drain, it may have been pulled out or it may be malfunctioning. After the evaporator defrost cycle the water should drain through the drain tube, since it's frozen up the water just accumulates in the fridge. If you take off the inside panel that covers the evaporator coils (the coils that freeze up) you should be able to see the evaporator defrost element and the drain defrost element. Inspect the drain defrost element to see if it's in the drain tube like it should be or if it needs to be replaced.

You will need to remove the food from the freezer and remove the ice maker if so equipped . Remove the 2 screws from the bottom freezer panel ( you will probably see a layer of ice here ) , and the 2 screws holding the inside rear freezer panel . Using a hair dryer , start in the center , below the coils , defrosting , until you see a drain hole . You want to defrost this hole ( hot water helps ) until water starts to flow down . Use a small hose inserted into the drain hole and blow thru it , to remove any unseen debris , built up inside the drain line . Reassemble the freezer .

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back/bottom of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the fridge is because the water has been leaking into the freezer and down the vent into the fridge instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you need any further assistance. Water dripping from somewhere inside the refrigerator

I believe the problem is with the drain line when the frig goes into defrost mode

see if you can trace the drain line that oes into the evaporator pan at the bottom of the frig

facing the frig remove the bottom panel that goes across the front and pull out the evaporator tray to see if it is dry

take a flashlight and see if you can see a plastic tube that the water should be dripping into the pan

try to trace the tube up into the frig ther is some type of catch basin inside the frig on the back panel usually around middle area

If you are not able to find it you can call whrlpol customer service 1-800-253-1301
or call an appliance service enter and as them f they can walk you through the problem

Good Luck

Water accumulates under vegetable bins and spills out the front

the water is coming from the freezer when is defrosts. the drain line is in the back wall of the freezer and may be clogged up with ice. clean out the freezer and pour some hot water in the very back of the freezer, this will hopefully unclog the drain. if not, then you have to take the back wall out of the freezer to get directly to the drain line. there should just be a couple screws holding it; it is just an aluminum or plastic panel.

Whirlpool refrigerator top freezer

sounds like you have a clogged defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials works awesome, after you clear it and all water drain down tube wrap a piece of solid copper wirearound the heater( black calrod heater right above the drain trough) and stick it in the whole maybe an inch or so. now everythime the heater comes on to defrost it will prevent the hole from freezing over
