Question about Uniden 5.8GHz Expandable Cordless Phone System with Digital Answering System

1 Answer

Although calls come in, I cannot hear the person on the other end, and when I try to dial a number, there is no dial tone. The day before I got no dial tone at all, I realized I could not use the speed dial, but had to call the number "manually." Yesterday I bought a new battery, but that does not seem to have solved the problem. Any ideas about a next step? Are there repair centers? Or should I just buy a new phone?

Please help I can't ring out on my phone

Check for dialing tone by pressing 'Talk On' phone button.
If no tone, check cord at base station and the phone socket is correctly plugged in at both ends using the original cord supplied.
If still no dial tone, check the phone at another phone connection to establish if either the phone or the line is faulty. Address for

How do I forward calls from my home phone to my cell phone

Call forwarding is a service provided by your telephone company, and the procedure may vary from company to company.

With many, you dial *72 then at the second dial tone dial the number to which you wanted the calls forwarded. That phone must answer to confirm the forwarding. Dial *73 to cancel the call forwarding.

If the above procedure doesn't work, contact your telephone company for their instructions regarding call forwarding.

When using phone I cannot call out , it gives me a fast dial tone , but I can get incoming calls

Does the fast dial tone persist, or do you get a regular dial tone after a couple of seconds? If the latter, then you have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

Our DECT 6.0 4 phone system has been working fine for well over 1 year. All of the sudden when you dial out and the person on the other end answers they can't hear you. If someone calls here you can hear...

Sit the headset units back to the main base one by one.
Make sure you do all of them at the sametime.
This will reset the DECT 6 security feature.

Swap out the rechargeable battery to rule out weak battery problem.

Panasonic DECT 6.0 shows "in use" but it's not. Why?

When I get this error, it's often a problem with the phone line wiring. Sometimes, it is the phone itself.

I like to use a spare corded phone and a new RJ-11 cord to localize the problem. First, try using the spare phone at the jack where the Panasonic base is plugged in. If you get a dial tone with the spare phone, try the new RJ-11 cable with the phone. If there is still no dial tone, then the phone needs repair or replacement.

If you do not have dial tone with the spare phone, try the test phone at another jack on that phone line.If there is dial tone, there is a problem with the first jack. You will need to open the jack and check the wiring. These are either keystones jacks or screw terminals. The keystone type require a special tool to press the wires into the terminal block. This is available at many hardware stores in the electrical wiring aisle (with the keystones and wires for whole house video/telecommunications access).

If you still have no dial tone, find the telephone access box. If you are lucky, that box has RJ-11 jacks so that you can test the line. If there is still no dial tone, contact your phone company. Outside line problems will be fixed by your provider.

If you have dial tone at the access box, you have a wiring problem somewhere inside. You can try to track the wires in any exposed area for signs of damage. You might want to call a professional to check the wires in the wall. Your phone company will do this for a fee.

I hope this helps.

(my own phones gave "Line In Use" when a contractor damaged a wire digging in the wrong spot and when mice got to the underground lines outside. Those problems were fixed by the phone company.)

Forward calls to an another number

Call forwarding is a service of the phone company, not of any phone. The procedure for forwarding calls is dependent on the phone company, but this is the procedure for many US phone companies: Dial * 7 2 and wait for another dial tone. Dial the number to which you'd like the call forwarded (dial 1 and/or area code if needed). This number must answer the call to activate the service.
To unforward the call, dial * 7 3.
Remember that this is the procedure for many US phone companies. It may not be the procedure for your phone service provider. You should contact them for the exact instructions.

How do i set the answering system on a uniden 1580-3 phone, mine is just background noise on the answering machine when someone calls in to leave a message

Here is the manual for your phone. You can download the manual and the instructions for setting up your answering machine are on page 43:

http://www.uniden.com/pdf/DECT1580-3om.pdf

Setting Up the Answering System
You can set up your answering system's features from the handset. Only one handset at a time can access the answering system menus.

Note: If you have multiple bases, select the base with answering system you want to access (see page 15).

Recording a Personal Greeting
Your answering system comes with a pre-recorded outgoing message or greeting that plays when you receive a call: "Hello, no one is available to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone." You can record your own personal outgoing greeting. Your recorded greeting must be between two seconds and thirty seconds long.

Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the messages unless it has no messages.

Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the system is in the command waiting mode.

Press 8 to start the recording. The system announces, "Record greeting." Begin recording after the announcement.

When you finish recording, press 8 again or press 5. You will hear a confirmation tone, and your recorded greeting plays back for you.

Selecting a Greeting

Once you have recorded a personal greeting, the phone automatically switches to your personal greeting. You can
also switch back and forth between the pre-recorded greeting and your own greeting at any time.

Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the messages unless it has no messages.

Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the system is in the command waiting mode.

Press 6. The system plays the current greeting.
