Try the following:

1)Open messenger and go to the tools menu, audio and video setup
2)click next button
3)select type of speakers or headset if you have any
4)select microphone
5)select webcam
6)click finish

Try restarting the computer with the camera plugged in to the computer. Also you may want to Uninstall the drivers reboot the system, re-install the drivers and check to see if that works.

Hi;

Have you tried plugging the Webcam into another USB socket and see if that comes up with the same error.

If you have re-installed then did you restart the PC?

If you do restart you will find it should work.

I hope this helps,

Thanks.

    Hi,

Sometimes there are issue's due to Mcaffee running.. Here is what Mcaffee suggests:

    http://service.mcafee.com/faqdocument.as...

Due to changes in the new version of Live Messenger 2009 (v14), you may be unable to use the webcam and video conferencing features when SiteAdvisor is installed.

McAfee is aware of this issue, and is working toward a resolution.

    Solution

As a workaround, McAfee recommends configuring SiteAdvisor to stop monitoring Live Messenger.

    Navigate to the following folder:

    Windows XP/2000/Vista (32-bit): C:\Program Files\McAfee\SiteAdvisor

    Windows Vista (64-bit): C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\SiteAdvisor

Right-click on the file sasets.ini and choose Open With, then select Notepad.
    Locate the section titled [msnmsgr.exe].
    Change Enabled=1 to Enabled=0.
    Click File and select Save.
Close sasets.ini and restart your computer for changes to take effect.

Please let me know if that works.

    Thanks.

Unless

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: You audio and video should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps

    you can also try this
    you close MSN
    than go to
    start

    add&remove programs
‘windows live essentials’(if using WLM 2009)
‘windows live messenger’(if using WLM 8.5)

Try to stop any other program that may be using the camera.
In the Task Bar at the bottom of your windows screen you will see several small icons, these represent programs currently running.
If you have AIM(AOL), Google or any messenger or webcam program, place your cursor on the icon and Right click, a small menu should appear, use the Stop option to quit the program.
Let me know what you find and which programs you have running.

In im i cant invite to see my cam why

Probably because you are in a different program to your contact
Cross chatting does not support webcams
If you are in Yahoo Messenger for example and your contact is in Yahoo Mail or Yahoo webmessenger or MSN the webcam feature is not available the option may be greyed out or missing.
You both have to be in Yahoo Messenger or MSN

My Microsoft LifeCam Wont detect on MSN!

Once you have your webcam working outside of MSN you can then proceed to configure it to the MSN software

Its good practice to disconnect / re-connect the camera to the USB port before you start. Sometimes the camera remains hooked up to a previous program and the MSN software cannot find it.

Connect webcam
Open MSN - Windows Live Messenger
Click ( > ) Open Menu > Tools > Audio & video set-up - run through Audio > Next - set your camera default - assess webcam quality and use the Webcam Settings to make any refinements > Finish

Try going into the 'audio adn video' options in MSN and tuning the camera and audio.. ie testing it out. You have to choose the camera n stuff.. so you may not have it as default..

go to Logitech's website...click on your product model and from there you can download the latest drivers. Make sure to note that most device drivers for Vista 64 bit systems are different from 32 bit.

Philips spc 700nc web cam

First of all, have you verified you are using latest version of MSN messenger. If so and the problem still exists, give one of the other instant messengers a try, say like YM or AIM or any number of others.
What exactly do you mean by ' seems to work '?? Can you see yourself in the cam using whatever software other then MSN that you may have on your computer.
