Question about Canon PowerShot G9 Digital Camera

1 Answer

How do I use 360' lens on my Canon G9?

I use a 360' lens for virtual property tours, what dial setting do I choose? I need a 10 second delay to enable me to exit the room/area and to take 3 images one after the other, and ideally do not wish to have to reset the timer after every shot. I have the appropriate lens adaptor, and everything fits perfectly, but the images are too small - have tried C1 and C2 settings. Can anyone help?

The C1 & C2 settings are for "Custom" settings. You'll most likely want to set your camera either to "P" or "Auto" mode.
To have it delay for 10 seconds and take 3 shots, press the "Menu" button and then scroll down to "Drive Settings". Then, choose the following settings:
Self-Timer: "C" Delay: 10 sec. Shots: 3 shots
Then, press the "Func./Set" key to lock in the change. Next, press the custom timer button on the back of the camera and then choose the "C" timer using the directional keys. Then, press teh "Func.Set" button.
Lastly, set up your camera, press the shutter release, and the timer light should start blinking. 10 seconds later, the camera will take 3 photos in succession.
Hope this helps!

Tip

Dell Latitude Portable (2008 or newer) has jumpy cursor when typing

The Touchpad driver setup has options to keep the cursor from jumping while typing.
  1. Open the Touchpad Properties
  2. Touchpad Settings
  3. Enable the TouchCheck option, set the slider to minimum. (TouchCheck disabled the touchpad while typing. The Slider adjusts the delay. Minimum is .5 second delay, and each notch and additional .5 second delay)
Other options that may cause user problems are Draglock and Tap to Click under Touchpad Settings, and Scrolling and Zoom Settings of Touchpad Properties.

Canoscan n640 not work in windows 7

Canon stopped supporting this scanner after XP. The available software and drivers are here: http://www.canon-europe.com/Support/Consumer_Products/products/scanners/Others/N640P_ex.aspx?type=download&page=1 .

Depending on the version of Win7 on your computer, you can try one of the following workarounds. To check your version, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If it says x64, you have a 64-bit version of Windows 7. Otherwise, it is the 32-bit version.
1) If you have the 32-bit Win7, you can try the compatibility mode. Download the driver or full software from the Canon site and right click on the installer. Then choose Properties and then the Compatibility tab. Turn on Run program as Compatible with the appropriate OS. Then right click again on the installer and choose Run as Administrator. Then check if the program itself is running in the compatibility mode by right clicking again and choosing Properties. This may not work.

2) The option that will work for all versions of Win7 is to use a computer (virtual, dual-boot, or true second machine) with an older version of Windows installed. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate (or upgrade to them), you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software from the Canon site in the virtual computer and it will work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS. Please note that the virtual computer can't share files directly with the main computer. You'll need to save files to external or removable media (optical media or flash drive, for example) to share them. Also a printer cannot be installed on both the real and virtual computers at the same time. You will be prompted to uninstall one set of drivers if you try.

I hope this helps.

(the above suggestions assume you do not want to replace the scanner which would be faster.)

I just purchased a SystemPro Wireless Remote Shutter release for my Nikon D200 camera. How do I set the menu program so the camera and the remote "talk" to one another? Thanks for your help

You need to set the camera's shooting mode to one of the remote modes. Quick-response remote mode fires the shutter when you press the button on the remote. Delayed remote mode gives you two seconds to hide the remote behind your back before firing the shutter.

To choose a shooting mode, press the mode dial lock release and turn the mode dial to the desired setting.
