You need to install the OS (operating system). Insert the OS cd into the cd-rom and reboot. When it says "Press any key to boot from CD" press a button.. Then follow the on screen prompts to install the OS onto the hard drive.

How do i fi no bootable devices on my Toshiba Satellite laptop

.- what kind of toshiba you have?
Normally, if you have a bootable USB stick (and your BIOS recognize this kind of device) insert it and give it a try.
Or, insert a bootable CD/DVD into your CD/DVD tray and boot.
Once the operating system was booted from any of those devices, proceed with installation of the operating system on your HDD. Good Luck!

Bootable devise was not found new

Bootable device not found actually indicates the HDD (hard disk) is no longer recognised and either needs to be re-seated or replaced, if the bootable device error message comes up all the time the it will be a definite HDD replacement.

Bootable device has not been dectected

When the PC cannot see a boot file/disk on either thehard disk or floppy drive it gives an error message "No bootable device. Insert boot disk and press anykey" First thing, check to see if the is a floppy disk inthe floppy drive, if so removes this disk. If there was no disk in the floppy drive then it maybe a hard disk problem.
Check the BIOS to see if the hard disk is detected, if not open the case andre-seat the data cable on the hard drive and also where it connects to themotherboard disk controller.
If it still gives this error message and the BIOS does not detect this harddrive, then the hard drive is probably faulty.
A further check on the hard drive, remove the hard drive and connect it to anUSB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port, if thiscomputer does not detect it as an external storage device then the hard driveis faulty.
To get the computer operating again, install a new hard drive in your computerand then install Windows on this hard drive plus the computer's devicedrivers and your programs.

'No bootable devices

No bootable devices = the hard disk appears empty, either Windows was corrupted or the hard disk has died.
Reinstall. If the install fails to complete or the problem comes back the hd is dead = replace it.

Installed a new hdd after my dell 1300 kept saying no bootable device and no hdd found now still says no bootable device restore cd wont start ether.

Have you tried accessing the bios and resetting it to factory default settings? Sometimes this will get the laptop to recognize the hdd. Otherwise, it may be either the connection isn't secure, or the bios has become corrupt and you may need to update (flash) the bios
