Question about Symantec AntiVirus 10.0 with Groupware Protection Business Pack for PC

Hello dar we have a purchased 20 user symantec antivirus Version 11.00. But my antivirus is not Detect any virus. Regards Neeraj 9769573430

Assuming you have installed it, make sure to update the definition files to the latest date. It is not necessarily a bad thing that no viruses have been detect (assuming you have no viruses on your system). you can run liveupdate to update the definitions via the internet.

Have you ran a full system scan?

You can check that the system by using the EICAR test string. Just do not use the zip file to test real time protection.

Just to be clear, there is no game mode SEP 11, the game mode is for the consumer product.

first check if your security software is not in Game Mode.
secondly, i will personally, recomment you to use Bitdefender
Internet Security 2009, its the worlds number one security software.

You can get the product key, but the problem is whenever you go online it will detect the activation history as a expired. It is better that if you have genuine windows version, then download Microsoft's free Security Essential.

If you have purchased an authentic copy of the software, then you will have received a serial-number.

My advice: uninstall it, and install the _free_ anti-virus software from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials
which does _NOT_ require any "key".

Hello blitzrider,

A license key for Norton's must be purchased. An Illegal serial would be detected when Norton's connect's to the internet anyway. It's Illegal to give keys out as well as against Fixya's policy.

A free alternative is a very good anti-virus program that is proven to be more effective. AVG FREE EDITION

If you're a home user I would suggest uninstalling Norton as you have an old version and install AVG Anti Virus and Zone Alarm firewall. These are both free for home users and have more modern engines.

You should also notice a speed improvement on your PC as Norton products can be quite rescource hungry.

This is process is confusing for many people. So, don't feel like The Lone Ranger.

Actually, you'll need to click on the "download" link in the email sent to you by Symantec in order to download your new software. What you have done so far is to purchase the product along w/ a subscription for antivirus definitions updates for one or more years.

Usually, the course of action is to uninstall previous versions of their software. However, Symantec's installation processes have gotten pretty good about letting the user know if the previous version of the product needs to be uninstalled.

Often times, the installation process of a newer version of a Symantec product will take care of uninstalling its predecessor for you.

IF you have purchased a newer version of the SAME Symantec product (e.g. Norton Antivirus), then I recommend you download the new product and run the install.

See if it will take care of the uninstall of the previous version for you. If you need to uninstall the previous version yourself, you will be prompted to do so.

IF, however, you have purchased a DIFFERENT product that happens to also INCLUDE Norton Antivirus, please, don't run the install yet. Instead, post back here and let me know exactly what each of the two Symantec products are called (the older and the newer one) and I'll instruct you in how to handle the installation process of the newer one.
