The yellow exclamation mark means that the driver for the DVD/CD-ROM is corrupted. You will need to find the drivers for your drive and re-install it. This should be easy enough to do: find the brand name of your drive and go to the website of the manufacturer, then locate their drivers page and find the specific driver for your product, then download and install the driver and restart your computer and the drive should work.
Please rate if this works for you, Thanks!

On going to the control panel, system, system properties, Hardwre then device manager; I descovered that there is a yellow question mark against DVD/CD-ROM driver. it is writen down: Optiarc DVD RW...

  • thank you my friend for your question, first step the yellow mark means that the dvd driver is missing
  • so for you to solve the problem you need to right-click at the yellow mark then select update driver
  • and thus the driver will be automatically be installed from the microsoft website.
  • and if it is installed the yellow mark will not appear again.

No dvd/cd-rom driver detected my system can not detect cd/dvd drivers

Hi
Could you clarify, is this a laptop or a desktop computer? Please check device manager and tell me what do you see there, right click on my computer or computer which you will find either on the desktop or in the start menu. Select Manage. Then on the left side, see the device manager, now look on the right, do you see any unknown devices or any with ? yellow mark on them? how about cd/dvd drives?

Can't install Sony DDX-A-1010 USB device using Vista.

I had this same problem and found a fix. I do not know if how my system was broken fits your case but it could be worth a try. Looking at the user manual to the camcorder, it said to look in the Device Manager to make sure the driver was installed. It is supposed to appear in the DVD/CD-ROM drives. It did appear there, but with a yellow flag next to it. I have also been having a problem with my DVD/CD drive. Its driver has had a yellow flag next to it for quite some time. Then I realized I was getting the same error message on my camcorder as I had gotten with my DVD/CD driver "Hardware not found (Error 41)." (Please excuse if I am misquoting these error messages, now that the problem is fixed, I do not know exactly what they said. So, I am doing this from memory.) So, I did a google search on "dvd/cd code 41." It took me to a Microsoft website http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314060. Apparently, if you install iTunes, Nero, Roxio Creator, or Zune, it can mess up your registry. This Microsoft website has a "Microsoft Fix it" icon you can click on, and it straightens everything out (it might mess up your installation of iTunes, Nero, Roxio or Zune though). Now, not only does my camcorder work, but my DVD/CD drive is fixed too.
