Hold the on/off slider for 30-40 seconds and then release to reset the device. Then try turning it on. Also, sometimes if the battery is low/dead it will take longer than 3 hours to charge up. If it does not turn on after the reset you might try letting it charge for a day or so and try again. If it doesn't work after all of this, it should be returned to where ever you bought it for a replacement.
Ifthe recharageable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall.
ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time.
Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.
if it says that it's charged fully after you charge it then it sounds klike the battery may be almost dead, contact sandisk on their website to see if these are replacable because many are not. www.sandisk.com
Does it indicate that it is fully charged? If it does, I would return it or have it replaced. You have a 1 year warranty from SanDisk.

If not, try using a different USB port on the computer, preferably one in the back.
Best of Luck.
sandisk recommends 3+ hours for the initial charge and then about 1.5 - 2 hours for after the battery is drained.
