Magic Chef CGR1425ADW oven - electronics problem

Display says either "S A6" or "5 A6" (can't tell)... no electronic oven controls (bake, broil, clock, timer) will work. Stove igniters / burners work fine.

SOURCE: Magic Chef gas range oven not working after cleaning

You controller is your likely culprit. There is a relay on it that controls the oven. When it first wouldn't go off, the contacts in the relay stuck together. When you unplugged it you may have had to pull it out from the wall, which may have broke the connection. It works by way of a small electromagnetic coil that brings the contacts in and out. If that coil breaks it will look like it is on, but won't have any power to the oven coils. These controllers are easy to replace, but expensive. $75 to $300 depending on what you need for your unit.

Magic Chief "Chateau" double oven,

I just had the top completely off of our Magic Chief, which I love and refuse to part with, to fix a problem with one of the burner switches. I believe if you pry up gently in the crack in front with a blade, i.e. small pry bar or screwdriver, being very careful to not chip the paint, the top will snap loose from the two prongs that hold it in place. Then if you disconnect the cluster of wires going to the burners, which is very easy to do, (they just plug together) and remove one screw holding the ground wire toward the back, you can lift off the whole top and get to all of the good stuff. I find the quality of our old Magic Chief Chateau to be of exceptional quality, much better than I see today and I'm pleased that our burner problem was just loose screws. Good luck.

I have a Magic Chef range. It has the touch type

The touch pad for bake could be nonfunctional or the bake relay could have failed. Do you hear a click like the relay has activated? If so the ignitr could be the prblem. Careful investigation is required.

Oven goes on off on off on off and it does not get

This is a common symptom caused by a problem with the ERC (Electronic Range Control / Clock). If you can send us the ERC, we can rebuild it for you.

Baking element

oh bleep, right? well, if you're lucky this will get you going again. 1. disconnect power to range. 2. remove back metal cover just above range power cord (usually 5 quarter inch hex screws) 3. look for burnt off wire leading to/from bake element. If yes, 4. strip ends of broken wire and splice with ceramic wire nut if no 4. bad news. replace ERC (electronic range control) you fried something on the board. It's got the clock display and all the electronics behind it.
