Found Compaq Pressario in Trash Today - is it worth getting fixed

New york city is great - found a Compaq Pressario in the garbage and wanted a 2nd laptop for my house.
Is it worth seeing if it works - who can I send it to?  I need to buy a power cord and could someone technical enough bring it back to life.
All looks good except I couldn't open DVD player but maybe b/c battery is dead.
How old is this model and what's the value - or is this a DUD?
Has windows XP.
Thanks and if there is someone on here in Manhattan / Queens NY I'd be happy to give you business if it's not too much $$$

Start with buying a universal charger from an electronics store.

See if it will turn on. If not, it may not be worth keeping.

Sell it on ebay for parts if thats the case.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I have the same problem. I found this blog to be helpful in taking apart a Compaq, also the user manual from Compaq, available here is very complete.
