Is the lid lock the same as the switch that activates the machine when the lid is closed?

That switch seems to work fine. When the lid is opened the machine will stop.

When washing, the agitator does what it's supposed to do but unless I hold the tub with my hand, it just turns freely so the clothes don't get much activity. ( I use an old toothbrush to depress the switch while the lid is open. This is how I found out about the problem. )

    Thanks,

    TB

The tub turns all the time its in wash cycle and the agitator does too but since the whole tub is moving the clothes don't get 'agitated' enough to wash well. It won't even pull the clothes on top down into the water. If I put downy in the fabric softener dispenser it ends up in spots and blotches all over the clothes. Any info will be appreciated because I hate to have to buy another washer right now. Thanks.

Lid lock may be damaged. Unplug, remove the front by the bottom 2 screws. Look at lid lock to see if it has overheated or damaged. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Then, I think I misunderstood your question, my apologies. Can you find the complete model number?

Look at following areas for the model number

    • Rear Center Of Lid Well
    • Left Upper Back On Base Cabinet
    • Back Top Control Panel
    • Right Rear Corner Of Washer Top Lid
    • Open Lower Left Front Base

    • I will try to give a better answer after I see your model number. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Just talked to my friend and he told me the washing machine has a one way clutch bearing. He said also that the price of replacing the bearing is too expensive and difficult to work on.You need also to ask around to see if you could have it replaced or if it is cost effective to do so. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Model MAH 7800 drain pump will not run, door locks, tub spins, water drains by gravity

Well your drain pump needs attention for sure. There could be an object lodged against propellers or it may need to be relaced. Try unplugging the connector that goes to the pump and plugging back in. Also try tapping the the motor part of the drain assembly while in spin cycle before replacing. Good luck.

How to add fabric softner to the amana washer with locking lid

Check and see if there is a cup in the top of the agitator. Some machines have you put it there, turning back and forth during wash doesn't bother it, but the spin to empty the wash water causes the softener to go out through slots in the top of the cup and be held in the agitator. when it stops the softener drains into the tub, ready for the rinse cycle.

Maytag centennial washer not working properly in Normal cycle. After it shuts off there is still water in the bottom of the tub. I can move the dial to another setting such as Casual cycle or Heavy Duty...

We have the same problem. The Normal cycle still works, but after the final spin cycle, water is again added (1 gal est.) and the machine stops. Problem occurred after washing an old 25 x 30 inch rug which partially disentegrated when washed. We were seeing particles of the rug in subsequent wash cycles during drain into laundry tub. Don't know if something is plugged in the washer or if it is something else. In another load after the rug wash, the top of the washer was lifted during the wash cycle. The water problem occurred immediately after lifting the lid as the wash load went through remaining cycles. Maybe this affected the timer? Maytag customer service suggested unplugging power cord to re-set timer. This didn't make any difference. We need a technician to tell us if this is a timer problem or something else?

Makes banging sound during agatation cycle, tub and agator both rotate back and forth.

Lift the top cover of the unit from the front of the unit once it is free from the front locking clips, which hold the cover in place. Two things you need to inspect for damage. 1) You should see four rubber straps, which should restrict the movement during the wash and spin cycle (cost is around $4.00 each). 2) Check the shocks on the tub support rods and plastic hardware for damage.

LG Washer WM2455H Tub Clean Problem

Yes, it's normal. It is a safety feature because of the hot water used during the tub clean cycle. It prevents the machine from opening while the tub clean cycle is in process.

Water runs into tub but does not fill?

be sure the drain hose is not lower than the wash tub this will caust the water to run out, 2nd be sure the drain hose is not pushed to far into the house stand pipe and the there is rome for air to go inbetween the drain hose and stand pipe eather of these will cause the machine to siphon mostly on rince cycle or on the 2nd and third loads you do. last your house drain could be starting to back up fill the washer with water and listen to it drain if you hear a gurggling sound in the house pipe you may need a plumber to cleanthis out for you.
