There's nothing you can do. It's hardware related. Either the video card (gpu) or the lcd (most likely) is failing.

You'll have to replace some hardware to correct the issue.

Try using an external monitor, if the lines still appear then your video card is the problem, if not it's most likely the lcd.

Sorry for the bad news but it is what it is.

Most laptops have a vga plug, just plug the monitor into the plug, make sure the monitor is on, then turn the computer on, it should automatically display on the external, if it doesn't try pressing FN + F5 on the keyboard, most laptops are setup this way.

Let me know what happens or if you have any snags.

Dell Latitude D505 half of screen is black with colored vertical lines.

Sounds like you have a section of dead pixels. This can happen if the laptop has been dropped a lot or stepped on or some type of impact on the laptop. This is a hardware issue. You will need to have the screen replaced. In my opinion, by the age of the laptop, its better off getting a new one.

Acer aspire 3003LCi will not project on tv we are using vga cable and have tried the Fn and F5 buton

Hi,
Try holding the fn & F5 buttons down for a good few seconds. Try fn and F7 too.
Right-click on the desktop and choose properties, and see if the 2nd monitor is recognised or not.
It might be a duff VGA cable, or crappy MS drivers instead of the real thing. Always worth downloading some fresh ones.

Nothing but multi colered lines verticly on the screen

Try this:
Turn it off.
Disconnect power cord and any other device attached to it.
Take battery out.
Without anything attached. Hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds.
Connect the power cord only.
Hold down F2 (while it's off)
Turn it on while holding down F2.
Let go of F2 when something comes out of the screen.
If multi colored lines still appears.
You have either defective LCD(screen) or video card.

My laptop screen has a thin blue line going down, why has this happened?

You have the beginning of a failing Display panel, and will eventually need to replace the display.. you can hold the top left and right sides of the display screen-slightly bend forward and back, you should see the blue line either go away or it will produce more lines...

This is due to a short on the circuit board panel on the backside of the display panel that controls the Pixels on the Screen.. The Pixels are controlled In a Line Grid Fashion...

Acer 3003lci will not boot up.

sounds like locking up on boot, hence why nothing happens when you hit F2, try tapping F2 as soon as you push power button, if still hanging, you may need to take it to get looked at, could be a number of things causing it to lock up

Acer 3003LCi - Wireless Connection

It seems the two oval lights on the front of the Acer TravelMate 3003LCi are not only lights to indicate WiFi traffic, but also buttons to turn the WiFi radio on and off for security reasons. If you press and hold the left side button for 3-5 seconds it should turn back on the WiFi radio. Windows XP (and maybe other OS’s) have a power saving function that turns the radio off when not in use to save the battery, so you have to use the buttons to turn the radio back on. Seems like a pain in the @$$ to me, but it’s a clients laptop not mine so he will have to live with that.

I hope this helps someone so they do not have to go through the frustration of trying to figure out why the radio has been turned off.
