Question about GE Ovens

1 Answer

While using my LP gas oven I hear a "poof" sound like a flame going out or lighting after about 20 minutes of use and through out the whole time I have it on. About every 15-20 minutes. Yesterday it made this same sound and then a very loud noise (like a empty semi trailer coming down the highway) I turned off my oven and within a couple minutes the noise stopped. I turned it back on only to hear this noise again. I turned it off. This morning I had a very strong odor of gas. Turned off gas supply. Returned home this evening and turned it all on. The oven lights and no noise but still getting gas odor if the gas supply is on even with the oven off. Turned gas supply is off again.

I would go with the appliance tech.

Gas techs generally do not know appliance repair.

I have a 6 yr old Tappan stove, model TGF657BFW5. the burners work fine, but the oven and/or broiler take 5 to 10 minutes to light. when the oven and/or broiler do light, the flame is only about 1/8 to 1/4...

that ignitor should lite the flame within 40 to 60 seconds if not the ignitor is bad.even though it glows red it doesn't mean it's good it works with amps change the ignitor

I bought a used 24 inch GE gas wall oven, changed it over from natural gas to lp and it will not ignite they glow red but no flame

Many times, unless you have the universal, the orficies have to be changed. From nat to LP. they do make a universal type.

GE PGB975SEMSS Broiler and Oven flames too large and yellow

It sounds like your not getting enough air mixed in with the gas.if you can't adjust for more air make sure you were not supposed to change the spuds that feed the gas on the lower units.

this is a common indication that the ignition module is probably going bad or the flame sensor is not sensing the flame on the burners. There are other, more technical issues possible but this is usually the most common. The "not restart" , if referring to the burners, is an indication that the ignition module has "locked out" the system, usually after 3 failures of attempts to light the burners.

Oven slow to heat and top burners weak flame

sounds like you have a gas pressure /flow problem. id start with hte gas company have them come out and check you tank pressure(if using LP), or the pressure from reguator leading to home
