Main screen is frozen immediately when I turned it on
I JUST bought this and when I plug it in it says to select language, like it's supposed to. However, it stays frozen on that screen. I cannot press select and the remote won't even work. I know the system works because it is chraging my ipod, but nothing else works. Am I missing something here?
Re: Main screen is frozen immediately when I turned it on
Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!

Press TOOLS (the spanner symbol in the bottom right corner of the screen that displays WHERE TO and VIEW MAP) As it's not in English this may find a bit of trial and error but it should be easy enough to find.
Press SETTINGS (the spanner symbol) or LOCALE (the blue symbol on models that don't have a SETTINGS icon)
Press LANGUAGE (the lips icon)
This brings you to a screen with 3 items; VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD. Press VOICE and select a voice from an English speaking country. Press TEXT LANGUAGE and select English or American English if you're in the USA. If you press KEYBOARD while trying to find one of the other 2 above just select English also. This should solve your problem
On the screen that says WHERE TO and VIEW MAP there's a TOOLS icon (Picture of a spanner.) Press it.
Then press SETTINGS, (the spanner icon) or on some models LOCALE (Blue Icon at the top left corner) replaces the SETTINGS icon
Press LANGUAGE (The lips icon)
On this page you'll see 3 items; VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD
If you need to change the text language press TEXT LANGUAGE and select ENGLISH To change the voice language press VOICE and select the name of an English speaking voice If you need to change the keyboard layout press KEYBOARD and select English
If the text language is in Spanish you won't know which icon is which but press each one in turn and you can change each to English. This should solve your problem.
Follow these steps to change language setting on the printer display :
1.On the printer control panel, press the Left arrow twice or the Right arrow seventeen times on the Menu button until SELECT LANGUAGE? appears on the printer display screen.
NOTE: If the language is currently set to a language other than English, the Select Language? menu option will appear in that language.
2.Press the OK button. 3.Press the Left or Right arrows on the Select Photos button until your desired language appears.
NOTE: Even if the printer is currently set to another language, the name English will appear in the English language.
3.Press the OK button to select the language. A message requesting confirmation of the selection will appear appears. If the correct language is displayed, press the OK button. If the incorrect language appears, press the CANCEL button and start the selection process again. 4.When the SELECT COUNTRY/REGION? setting appears on the printer display screen press the OK button to continue. 5.Press the Left or Right arrows on the Menu button until the desired country/region appears on the printer display screen. 6.Press the OK button to select the country/region.
That could be one of two problems: Either the cord of the click wheel has been disconnected from its socket which will be an easy fix and you only have to pay labor, or you may just need a new click wheel which should still be cheap.
I have been reading other posts and supposedly the problem with the language screen is that the link inside the ipod for the lock button has come unhooked and needs to be hooked back. I will post the link so you can read about it for yourself. I think this means you have to open up your ipod. Read some of the posts in this website for more info. No official word on fixing the problem. Just suggestions. http://www.command-tab.com/2006/03/31/fixing-a-frozen-ipod/
