If the Wii will turn on and display the menu, then I would say try replacing the Wii controller batteries first. If after you replace the batteries and it is still not working, the next best thing to do is make sure the sensor bar is correctly plugged into the console. If it is correctly plugged in, then it may need to be replaced.
open the wii remote battery cover
press the little red sync button once, at the same time as pressing the little sync button under the sd card flap(on the wii) once.
just one tap each and it shud work.
dont keep the buttons pressed or it wont work.
also some people sed to me you can keep '1' pressed
I had this same problem. I read somewhere to unplug the Wii for a minute so that when you turn it back on it will have to reload the bluetooth data from the firmware. Worked immediately for me. Hope this helps.
