The PIP circuit is stuck, try using PIP commands to reset.

Hi dwporter,
I understand your frustration with the site and the solutions so far. Unfortunately there is not always an easy fix when dealing with electronics, especially with something as delicate as LCD tv's.
I feel that the dropping of the remote and the blackscreen issue are not related,
For diagnostic purposes try a different video source(dvd or game console). If this doesn't work we need to check the functionality of the backlight.
With the tv at a point where you have sound and the black screen, shine a flashlight at the screen, look very closely and see if you can see a very dim video image. If you see video you have a malfunctioning backlight inverter or a bad power supply.
About 80% percent of all LCD tv problems are backlight related. Fortunately the parts are abundant and cheap.
Please post back with your findings and we can troubleshoot further.

Hi

It isn't the remote. Just coincidence that both things happened. It seems most likely that the problem is either the backlight itself or the power supply for it.

However, I presume that there's no "glow" around the edges when the picture is black? If there is an indication of the backlight working ("glow") then the problem could be anywhere in the video circuitry that drives the panel and that would be pretty much beyond the scope of anything we could help with here. I recommend if you have no experience with fixing electronics, that you take it to a trusted repair shop near where you live.

You shuold leave the remote for now, switch it off and try to power off and power on the TV and use buttons on your television.
As the remote is dropped it might be faulty, get new one.
if your TV is in warranty then that will better.

Look at the functions on the remote and se the possible buttons that could have been pressed to cause it to do that. Try to put it in video mode and see if you can watch a dvd. If you can not, scroll through your menu and reset your display settings.

I can guess what might have happen.

When your remote might have fell, it might have affected the tv to turn off..And it would have resulted in fusing any of the Ic' s on the circuit board.

So you either need to open the circuit board and change that Ic or call nearest technician to change the Ic on the boad.

Any further help, you may buzz.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Hi, its possible it changed some option on the TV, try unplugging the TV for about 30 Sec/s and hold the power button in on it for another 20 secs. Then plug it back in and see if the same thing happens

Please unplug the tv overnight and then plug it in in the morning. This will cause the set to reset to factory settings once it has done so it should be in working condition again.

VX37L Screen Suddenly Went Blank, Now No Image, Sound Only on Cable Input, VIZIO Logo Lights Up

Hello,
turn on the set, grab a bright flash light and dim the lights in the room. Shine the flash light on the screen, if you see a faint picture on the screen, you are dealing with a backlight problem. There are several things that can cause this. One, a bad backlight inverter, two, faulty 24vdc power supply, three, bad main board, or a bad faulty backlamp.

My LG HD tv screen suddenly went green. sound is

Hi,
I disagree with info provided, if screen of your LG lcd tv becomes green that means inverter board is working and lcd tv does not have convergence ICs.
Please unplug tv from ac wall socket for minute to get it reset, replug back in and turn it On and check its picture.
If still showing green screen then change input source with remote, if tv shows same green screen on all inputs that means its either lcd panel problem or digital signal processor got bad loacted on main board. Local tv repairman is needed to confirm and fix it.
Thanks.

NO Picture or Sound

sounds like someone rolled over on the remote. if you have cable or a dish, the tv channel must be left on a specific station at all times. no matter what channel is on the cable, the television itself must be on the correct channel number in order to receive he signal from the cable company. try hitting the last channel recall button on the tv, not the cable. otherwise try channel 3 or 4 or sometimes 60 on the tv. good luck

There are some inductors that are out of spec. LG's original SB said to replace some of these with a jumper, but it only lasted a couple months.

You need to have the Total Main Assy replaced.

NO TV PICTURE

The best way is to contact your service provider and ask them to trouble shoot guide you, there should be a way to reset or diagnose the receiver or if you prefer go back to the place you bought it and ask for a replacement, You should still have the manufacturer's warranty, check that as well.
