Question about IBM Computers & Internet

3 Answers

Hi. My IBM 300GL M/T 6563-95U Windows 2000 professional computer 'sound' is gone. I thought that after I upgraded it to Windows XP professional that the sound would start working. It did. But the next day it was gone again. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. Now it seems to be gone for good this time.I updated the driver and it started working. But the next day when I booted up, the sound was gone again.I decided to just use the computer internal speaker. When the external speakers are plugged in I get a shssss stacticky sound. But no music or ''Windows logon or off'' sound. It was suggested that I buy a new sound card. I forgot my password one day and messed with the sw2 on/off switch trying to get into my computer one day. could it be that I forgot to switch something back on? In the sound window everything says that it's working properly and that there are no conflicts. The device manager says that there is no better driver. Please Help. Thank You Very Much, A'va P.S. If I need a new sound card. What kind should I buy?

Thanks for everyones help.. I only just recently, finally opened up thr tower to install more memory. That's when I notice that the speaker was not connected. That's the first time that I actually went inside the tower. The speaker cable must have been loose all the time. I guess that it was never snap in properly. After I snaped it in. Close up the tower and booted up the cpr. There it was. The sound was back.

    Thanks Again.

Reinstall the audio drivers and check if that does not supports.replace the sound card and it will work.because many times if the sound card is faulty then reinstalling the drivers does not support in that case replace the sound card.it will cost you under $7 for sound card with new orignal drivers and a warranty for sound card.
thanks.

Reinstall the driver again, even if the device manager show you it works properly this not means it is the real driver, look for last update for this driver, and check if you use any application makes this conflict for you always, if you want to buy good card buy creative labs sound blaster x-fi extrme i use it and it works wonderful and there is different prices.

Best Regards

Ibm sound card drive

The motherboard (IBM FRU 13R8926) has on-board ADI SoundMax audio. It's used in a variety of IBM/Lenovo desktop computers- including ThinkCentre A50p and M50. This should be the download page for the A50p and M50 models:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-50534

You should be able to use the ADI driver-only download on newer (x86) versions of Windows; although it indicates 98SE/2000/XP, version 5.12.01.5410 worked fine on my Windows 7 Professional install.

IBM/Lenovo lists drivers under the system model number, rather than by component, but you can search the IBM and/or Lenovo site for the FRU number (13R8926, in this case) to find the systems that it goes with, and then pick one of those systems to find the relevant downloads.

Thinkpad 2647 No sound on CD or DVD

Call IBM/Lenovo. For about $60, they will provide a complete set of "Recovery CDs" for the ThinkPad. That software will include a DVD-player and the correct sound-drivers. Or, check IBM's "support" web-site -- you may be able to download the correct drivers.
