Question about Dell Inspiron 8000 Notebook

1 Answer

I have a dell computer that I purchased used. It worked fine until about a month ago. When you start it up it comes up with a gray screen and asks for a bios password. I called dell and refuse to help me because I am not the original purchaser of the laptop. Can anyone help me with fixing this? Is there a universal master password?

Im sorry but bios passwords are set by the owner of the computer, probably the guy you bought it from. see online for a boot password resetter.

I have a Dell Latitude D600 that worked perfectly fine, until around a few months ago. It starts up normally and takes me to a DELL startup and then takes me to a black screen that says this: Windows...

Have you tried starting windows using the safe mode, and if it does start up in the safe mode, did you try to restore your system to a previous date that it was working properly. Sometimes when you have your kind of problem, even though several months have past, the calender for restore is lock too at the time your system went down. this gives you the opportunity to restore to a date close to when your system failed.
Before you try restore, make sure you do not have a virus that has corrupted you system, run a virus scan first. If you haven't done so I suggest downloading Malwarebytes anti-malware that is free online, it works very well, and Microsoft uses it for there systems.
I hope this is helpful, good luck, I hope you don't have to purchase the setup CD.

I have a used Dell Inspiron 8200, it has not been cleaned out but it worked fine when I got it, I ran a System Restore and used it until about four days ago when the computer froze. I shut it off, (did not...

Severe corruption. Since you can no longer boot in any way in it it's going to be extremely hard to fix it. Better just reinstall Windows from scratch. Use the recovery cd that should have come with the laptop. If you don't have it then just use a disk borrowed from a friend and the key on the label.

I had just purchased a Dell Inspiron N4010 laptop 2 months ago. It work well until few days ago. It hangs whilst at the screen 'starting windows'. After that it showed the message of 'check cable...

hello miss sally, hi, the operating system error may be caused by a faulty hard disk or hard disk connection cable, and the hanging thing is caused by a faulty memory module, so check then out first, swap a new memory module, and for your hard drive, take it out from your laptop and use a PC to test the drive (applicable only if your hard drive is sata.)

Vertical lines on my lcd laptop screen

It's the connector problems.
If you know what to do, I can guide you:

First, remove the screw all over the LCD case, then you can see the connector, and flexible cables.
Second, remove the keyboard unit(by removing all screw on the unit), after removed, find the edge of the LCD cables, then you can see the connector.

The solution:
1.Try clean this two connector with soft brushes ( paint brush is good ), by removing the cable first, then clean the flexible connector using wet tissue ( use the alcohol ).

2. If still exist, you need to replace the flexible with new ones.

Logitech Cordless Keyboard

This could be either hardware or software related. If you could tell us what the exact blue screen is I can be more specific in my answer. The possible causes for this could be virus/malware, corrupted registry(which could be due to failing harddrive), faulty memory, or faulty motherboard.

BTW, the "reload" they did will not fix much, which is why you had the same problem within days.
