Question about Maytag PYE2300AY Electric Dryer

1 Answer

I have a Maytag electric dryer and it quit in the middle of the cycle. I thought it smelled a little hot but i checked vent and it is all clear. No lint anywhere. I push the knob in and nothing. Check circuits and all is well there. What could it be. The dryer is 7 years old. Please reply to aquablue326@gmail.com. Thanks Sally

I replace thermal fuse and the thermastat which came as a combo pack. It took 20 minutes and worked perfect. I can not thank you enough. What could have cost me 4 hundred for a new dryer, only cost 29 dollars and 20 minutes of our time. I really did not have money for a new dryer and was so thankful for this website and the info provided. Thanks again, Sally

There is a thermal fuse attached just below the heating element connections that must be replaced.

Heating Element Won't Shut Off

Usually when an electric dryer overheats it's because of a defective cycling thermostat or a clogged vent system. Clean any lint from the internal and external ductwork, and/or replace the cycling thermostat

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.

Vent
Heating element
Internal ductwork
Cycling thermostat
Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Cycling thermostat Although this isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork with two screws.

Doesnt dry clothes, every opening i have unclogged, even outside vent is clear.basket rolls but heat is room temp. no matter what setting.

Hi, I experienced the same problem with my Maytag electric dryer. I finally fixed the problem after I checked the actual vent pipe (which allows air to discharge to the outside of your home). What I found was quite surprising. I found was a mouse nesyt in this pipe. Once I removed the mouse next,m my electric dryer worked fine. Just a thought. Good Luck!

Air vent clogged - cleared it out but now dryer will not start

Because of no ventilation would have caused the hi limit fuse or thermal fuse to blow. can check with an ohm meter before replacing.

Your exhaust vent is probably plugged. Remove venting from the dryer and check for lint build-up, and also check the vent flap on the outside of your house for clogs. If venting appears to be clear, you might have a bad blower (although you should notice an abnormal noise with that).

Smells hot what do I need to check?

Check your vent to the outside to make sure it is clear of obstructions, lint build up, water retention due to a sagging vent, etc.

Maytag pyeg4500 no power

The thermal cut-out is located on the right side of the heater unit. This will kill your power. Change the t-stat also and check that your vent system is clear.
