Question about Dell 962 Photo All-In-One InkJet Printer

4 Answers

Installed color cartridge all of a sudden is not recognized.

Even though I have been printing with this cartridge, now I'm givien an error message that says it is the wrong cartridge. I have turned off the printer and then restarted. Still the same message. I removed the cartridge and have cleaned the contacts. Still getting the message. Any suggestions.....My 962 is giving me the same error message "right cartridge incorret".
I tried unplugging as suggested and removing the cartridges. I also unplugged the power for a few minutes. Help!

Even if it the wrong cartridge, it will usually let you keep printing even though if your ink gets low, it will not be able to read it correctly so you will not know until all of your printing comes out black and white, but other than that, you can still print from it. It will be best though to get the correct cartridge form here: http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=dell+962+photo+cartridge&_sacat=0&_fromfsb=&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_odkw=dell+962+photo+all+in+one+inkjet+printer+cartridge&_osacat=0

Are the cartridges installed on the correct side? Left = Black or photo. Right = Color.

P.S. Its a Dell printer and can only use cartridges sold by Dell.some cartridges done by lexmark or or Epson doesnot work, check it well. the dell sensor in the machine can detect the right cartridges.

  • There are a few possible causes to this problem.

One of which may be the contacts on the printhead (where the cartridge contact ribbon connects to) have become contaminated.

*If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, take the printer to an authorized repair depot.*

    Try this:
    1) Remove the cartridges.
    2) use a pencil eraser to GENTLY rub the electronic contacts on the cartridges and the cartridge carriage. (where the cartridges sit when in use.)

Though I suspect yours is the first issue, alternatively, you may receive this error if the print head is completely clogged.

    To clean the print head:
    1) Remove Cartridge
    2) Unplug the AC Power Cord
    3) Hold down the RESUME button
    4) Release RESUME after plugging in the AC Power cord.
    5) Press the RESUME once within 5 seconds and release the RESUME .
    6) Press and HOLD RESUME for two seconds or more and release it.
    7) Press and HOLD RESUME for two seconds or more and release it.
    8) Unplug AC Power Cord to set data.

Be sure to check out the help page at Inkjet Oasis for preventive maintenance tips and additional resources for removing ink clogs.

If the above procedures don't work for you, the print head may need to be replaced. If that's the case, it might be time for a new printer.

Try a printer "reset". Here's how:

• Remove ALL cartridges • Turn off printer • Unplug the printer from the power source for a full 5 minutes • Reverse steps. Plug back in, turn on printer and install all cartridges

Thanks.

Try to repeat what you have done for one more time.

If the issue would be there, more likely try to clean the catridges, if it still remains the same, there must be an electric failure.Contact the vendor.

    Thanks.

If you havent done it already try also cleaning the contact in the ink carriage, if the cartridge is faulty replace it.

There are two posts in there.

To the first message: the cartridge had broken, it has a chip on it , and that is damaged.Get a different cartridge.

To the second user: the first thing to do is testing a different cartridge and cleaning the ink carriage metal contacts with cotton and isopropyl alcohol.

I have a lexmark x1240 and just installed a new cartridge. I keep getting an error message that says " print cartridge missing" install print cartridge even though both cartridges are in the printer.

If you insert the old cartridge, does it recognize it? If it does, then it's a problem with the new cartridge. Try to check if you already have taken out the protective tapes out of the cartridge.

If it still doesn't recognize the old cartridge, then it's a problem with the printer.

Hp c6180 states cartridges missing or damaged

OK now this might seem bizarre, but did you go ahead and click the "Black Only" print option?

I have a C6180. Just installed all new cartridges. Tried to print and got the message that Cyan is empty. Tried all sorts of things. Then out of frustration clicked the Black Onl option. Document came out printed in color! Double checked with a picture that has lots of cyan colors. It all printed too! Go figure.

No computer of mine recognizes this printer and the left drip light keeps blinking even though i have repalced it

If by referring to the left drip light you mean the bottom left light; this is the indicator light for the color ink cartridge:
Left print cartridge light blinks, Power light on. Tri-color print cartridge is damaged or missing.
? Reinstall the print cartridge. If the error persists, replace the print cartridge.

? You can still print with one cartridge

it is possible that once the computer and printer are communicating that the error messages could also be resolved by running the printer diagnostic program.

If your computers do not recognize the printer, uninstall the driver, if you had installed a specific driver, and then go to the site below to download a driver for your operating system and specific printer:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=439154&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=439153 After installing the operating system specific driver the computer should recognize the printer. Trust this is helpful. :)

An ink tank which has once been empty is
installed. Replace the applicable ink tank with
a new one.
Printing with a once-empty or refilled ink
tank can damage the print head.
If printing is continued without replacing the
refilled ink tank, press the Stop/Reset button
for 5 sec. or longer to record the use of a
refilled ink tank.

Dell A960 cartridge problem

Does the black cartridge print? If not did you take the tape off of it? Error 50 is a generalized error reading relating to a number of cartridge problems. If the color cartridge is empty, it may be theproblem although I have not found this to be true on Dell printers. If you remove the color cartridge and reinstall it the reading will indicate its full (even though it isn't. This may solve the problem.
