Mp3 players are programmed to read original & copied songs when you download music into your Mp3. if you copy an original CD (music) to your Mp3, the songs will be displayed along with all the infos of that song, i.e. artist, track #, year,etc. if you copy a CD which contains copied songs from other originals, it will display "UNKNOWN" because original CD's have their own trademarks that distinguishes them from copied CD's or any other CD for that matter...
There are a couple of wats to put music on a MP3 player.
You can download MP3 music files from the Internet, some Internet sites have free downloads and others you have to pay to download songs and albums.
You can convert your CDs into MP3 files can copy them to your MP3 player. There are freeware programs on the Internet that convert CD songs to MP3 format, the CD song is rip/converted to MP3 file.
Microsoft Media Player can also rip CD songs into MP3 files as well as playing MP3 files/songs.
You can either download song to your mp3 by... 1. Load an audio cd in your cd drive and convert audio songs mp3 format first, then you just copy and paste it to mp3. 2. If it the cd you want to insert already contains mp3 tracks, just copy and paste on your mp3. 3. You can also download songs from net. There are different ways of downloading songs to your phone. To download songs using the Internet, you should have a program to use for downloading.
For example: Lime Wire, you may install Lime Wire to your computer and then search the songs that you would like to download. After downloading your favorite song using Lime Wire, you need to save it into your computer and then, connect your phone using a USB cable.
After connecting the phone, right-click the song and then select "Send To" and then select your phone.
To download MP3 using a CD as your source of music, please follow the steps below:

- cd writer = only burn cd
- cd writer/dvd reader(combo) = still only burn cd
- dvd writer = can burn cd, dvd single layer(4GB)
- dvd DL writer = can burn cd and dvd single 4GB and dual layer 8GB.
Other than those, is not possible.

Unless the site is giving you a step by step how to burn songs directly to your cd/dvd.
Once downloaded, would be easier to burn to cd/dvd.
Download limewireonline (free version) Pick songs or artist on the left screen. When songs come up on the right highlight and click download. When its done highlight at lower secondary screen and click EXPLORE have your device plugged in and SAVED file will come up. Highlight that song and then click save this file it will download on your device. NOTE: only use mp3 files and never use one if it comes up corrupted.
