Question about Magellan Triton 200 Handheld GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Cannot save waypoint on my magellan triton 200 gps.

I have a basemap of north america installed on my gps. when I try to mark my home as a waypoint, it asks me to select a point, eg. give lat. and long, or a point from a map. I live in Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland, Canada. I simply want to mark my home as a waypoint and I don't seem to be able to do it. Also I would like to load the topographic maps for Newfoundland on this gps. Can this be done. Right now the gps shows about 86% of the memory used. Also can I remove the basemap from this gps.

Assuming you have installed the latest firmware. When you are on the map screen, just click on the center button and do a create a Waypoint and pick current location.

Or push the MENU button .. choose CREATE a WAYPOINT and when you GPS is on and has locked in on the Satellites . then create the Waypoint.

When pulling up geocache map

This is a common problem when you enter geocaches or Waypoints in which you DID NOT SCRUB the html code. Start Deleting Geocaches until you find the bad one and all will return to normal.

Also investigate a program called GSAK and use its stripper before you load the geocaches.

I have a Magellan 400 and dont know how to get the terrain to apear?

Sounds to me like you are trying to see a TOPO picture using the Basemap. Assuming that you have TOPO maps the terrain should appear at the 3 miles:1 scale and lower.

Bad News.. somehow you corrupted the internal software of the GPS. If the unit is in warranty, please return it to Magellan

No base map message

Go to: http://www.magellangps.com/support/product.asp?prodid=1114

Or, if this doesn´t work, go to www.magellangps.com, click on "support", click on "legacy products" (left) and click on "eXplorist 210 Europe" (do NOT click on "eXplorist 210 North America")

On this page click under Updates/Upgrades on "version 2.57", and follow the instructions.

After you have installed the firmware you will have the basemap and some new windows on the GPS. Good luck and enjoy!

Explorist 210 no base map

I solved this problem by gonig to the secret menu by holding the nav + power. I entered the value # 95 in the menu. This will let you format the memory area in the unit then I down loaded the latest firmware update from magellan.com and installed it on the
unit.I had already made a copy of the files on the unit in my hard drive so i copied the files back to my unit so that i did not loose anything important like poi's and geocaches etc...

PS when I did the firmware up date the base map must have been restored.
