Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook

Screen stays black after closing and then opening Inspiron 6000

I close the lid without shutting down when I move from room to room. The computer does not shut off. The screen just remains black when I reopen it. I have to do a force quit and restart. Used to remain just where I left it.

I have tried hitting the power button once and just about every key there is and got nothing. Going to try the power button options tomorrow. Got frustrated and didn't bring it home!!! Thanks for the help. I'll let you know if it worked.

You try pressing the power button once?  or maybe even pressing any keys.
also try adjusting your power management
vista) start. control panel. power option.  Edit plan settings.
xp) right click anywhere.  properties.  screen saver tab.  power management.

Try this, go to Control Panel select Power Options, select Hibernate and uncheck Enable Hibernation if checked, then Select Advanced, under Power Buttons, select Do Nothing when I close the lid, Do Nothing when I press the sleep button, select Apply then Ok.
I hope this helps and resolves your issue.
Good Luck.

When i close the lid on my dell inspiron E1505 the screen goes black and when i open it back up it stays black

The cable for the back light inverter board may have come off on the mother board side or on the screen side.

2) Failed inverter board.
3) Failed lamp.

Why do may Dell inspiron 6000 allways lock when i close the computer. And when i open again i have to restart the coumputer. And the locker light signal with the 9numbe comes on .

Go to the control panel > power Options......Unselect Hibernation, and change the setting for what the laptop does when the lid closes. By default, when you close the lid, the computer will go into sleep mode. This is one of the worse things Windows ever put into practice. Nothing but torment and trouble follows sleep mode. Change the setting to "do nothing" and make sure everything else does not say sleep or hibernate.

Dell Inspiron 1300 - When I re-open the lid,Screen stays Black !

Your laptop either goes to hibernate or sleep mode when you close the lid. Then, when you open the lid up, the screen is still off because your pc already hanged/froze and could not wake up at all (usual problem in vista). Off course, hard shutdown would fix it. But actual fix is under power options on your control panel. Check your current scheme and edit it. There are options there that you can select to "do nothing when closing the lid"

Hope this helps

Goes into standby when I OPEN lid

ok - if you are using XP -go to your start menu - control panel
click on power options and click on the 'advanced' tab - this will give you the options of what happens when you shut your lid.

if using Vista - click on control panel, choose 'classic view' from the left sidebar and carry on as above

hope this helps 8)

Dell inspiron 1150 screen goes black after standby

Let me help you regarding this, As your notebook is not having low room to handel the standby applications, i suggest you to change the power options in the control pannel. There you find POWER OPTIONS icon click on it and go to advance tab, there u find the option called WHEN YOU CLOSE THE LID, put it to DO NOTHING. So that nothing happens when you close the lid. I hope this helps you. BYE

Is this when you start it up, or after closing the lid and the machine being on standby?

Open/Closing

CONTROL PANEL --> POWER OPTIONS --> ADVANCED TAB

Select "When I close my lid (or something to that effect)" and change it to "do nothing" or "ask what to do". There is nothing I hate more than a misbehaving hibernation mode!
