Question about Dynex DX-EF101 (DXEF101) External Floppy Drive

1 Answer

Can't get it to load on my computer

I had this disk loaded on my computer to run a floppy disk drive (Dynex DX EF101). It ran perfectly, and then I accidentally deleted it. I tried to reload it, but my computer says," This program could not install USBFDD Drive without Windows 98/XE). I have WIndows XP on my computer and had been successfully using this floppy external drive--Any suggestions on getting this to work?

Which version of Mac OS do you have? The item is quite old, and it only supports Mac OS 8.6 through 9.1. This device also has problems with newer versions of Windows (Vista/7)

Try connecting the external device to another computer, to see if can be detected on that computer. If not, then the device itself has a problem.

Otherwise, try connecting your device to a different USB port on your computer.

Also, try some other USB device (camera, memory-stick) in each of your computer's USB ports, to confirm that the USB ports themselves are working.

A drive no longer works

Hello,
I recommend upgrading yourself to newer more powerful storage technology like the flash drive, CD, DVD or blue ray. It is less stressfull, more storage capacity.

Need to format 720

In a DOS prompt type:

format a: /n:9 /t:80

That should format the disk at low density for you.

Trouble installing DX-EF101 on Vista computer

A USB floppy does not need a driver. That would be for Win98se. Something else is wrong if it doesn't recognize the driver a few minutes after you plug it in.

I need help

Hi,

Two possible reasons:
1. the disk formatting system of the word processor is not compatible with your current computer's operating system;
2. the disc has been damaged and therefore unreadable.

The solution for possibility #1 is to re-save your "book" as pure text and try again;

The solution for the 2nd would be two fold. You need to get hold of a file recovery software and try to recover the contents of the diskette. Once done then you can format if so needed.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Need it to work with Windows Vista OS.

Your Dynex floppy should be pnp both on Vista and on XP. This means that it shouldn't need any additional driver. You just need to plug it into any available usb port, wait maximum a couple of minutes, and it should work automatically. Once installed it will be managed by your computer as any internal floppy unit. In any case, if you need to download the drivers you can find them here:
