Question about SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro SDCZ62048A10 Hard Drive

1 Answer

Very important pictures stored on my flash drive and my nephew broke the plastic casing and decided to pull out the insides. can it be saved. it was just your standard 1G drive. the "motherboard" inside doen't look to be damaged at all. Is there blank casings or can one be taken apart and the motherboard be installed on a different one? Need any help you can think of. Please.

If it was only casing then no problem happily you can plug into usb. If it is recognising the drive then your data is safe.

Thanks & Regrads

Open door in order to fix latch

Of course you can call a guy to come and unlock it for you in which case would save you time and headaches...Or buy a slimjim to open it yourself. That can be a headache as well if you don't know how to use it and also pending where the latch is broken...It really depends where the latch is actually broken...This can be done from carefully removing front part of door interior ..If it has power windows it will be easier of course..,If it is a crank window you will need a window crank remover if it has an inside clip...Some have a screw behind a plastic cover at the crank but some won't have a screw...If it is broken at the lever normally you can reach carefully behind panel, grab the rod and pull it to you to open door....If you knew where it was broke....Trust me to save time and get a unlock door kit from parts store with directions or else get someone to come unlock it for 20 or 50 dollars.....Save a nightmare from happening...A slimjim is cheaper however you don't know where the actual problem is....Call a door locksmith.

My pen drive got into water for about an an hour......

As flash drives are so small, they are easy to put in a pocket and forget about, which can lead to an inadvertent trip to the laundry.

Most flash drives will survive a trip through the washer, as they are usually well sealed and have no battery.

It is important not to use the drive if any moisture is present, but once dried the drive should still be useable with the original data intact.

All that is required to save a wet flash drive is a bowl of uncooked rice

Dry the flash drive as much as possible with a piece of paper towel to absorb excess moisture.

Gently pry open the case of the flash drive if possible, using a small flat-blade screwdriver to separate the two halves of the case.

This is not essential, but will cut the drying time and will help to limit corrosion.

Dry the inside of the case as much as possible with the paper towel.

Pour some uncooked rice into a small plastic bag, and then place the flash drive in the bag and seal.

Place the bag in a warm, dry place for at least 24-hours.

The rice draws out and absorbs any moisture present, speeding up the drying time and ensuring the drive is completely dry.

Check the drive after 24 hours. If you can see any moisture, leave the board for 24 hours and repeat until the board is completely dry.

Reassemble the case, ensuring the two halves are tight shut. Use a small spot of glue to hold the two halves together securely if necessary.

You can then use the flash drive as normal

hope this helps

The middle part you put in the computer is completely broken and I have to get my work off here for my last nine weeks but I cannot because the middle part is broke

The middle part is the USB and the important piece. if the outer casing came off generally doesn't mean that it will not work. Finish the work your doing maybe even create a file to save it in the computers memory. most computers have multiple USB ports put in a new one the computer will prompt you to wich USB you want to save on. Or while you have the info from the broken USB open gently slide out the old USB while a new one remains in.

good luck hope that help you.

My flash drive is messed up, I lost it's plastic cover that protects the inlet thingy, and it's been treated very brutally. Now it's not being detected anymore. Is there any way I can get the information...

Files on a flash drive can be corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon and then click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flash drive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive you may need to format the flash drive, but you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive this program may help: -

Travel Drive Broke

It depends on your skill level as to if it can be fixed or not. The data is most likely still safely stored on the flash chip inside the drive casing. However, the USB connector has been just ripped off. If you have any experience soldering it would be as simple as getting a replacement usb plug from an electronics store or cutting a cable you have and then soldering the USB connector back to the flash drive inside the casing. This is something than can be done at home or possible by a repair shop that does any type of soldering work(tv, radios, ect) Most computer repair shops will look at you silly if you ask them to solder a thumb drive back to life. I would not expect more than to be able to mount your drive and copy the data. Odds are after you cut it out of the casing it will never go back in correctly.

Good Luck

My verbatim 4GB flash drive broke. The metal

If the metal piece just came out of the plastic casing, you may try reconnecting it to the computer and see if it would be detected by the computer. If it's detected, back up all the files.

But if the metal piece broke off, sorry but there's no way to fix it.

Now, you may look for a Data Recovery Center near you. The Data Recovery Centers are computer shops or stores that offers data restoration, back up or retrieval.

Hope these helps and have a great day!

Water Damage to USB Flash Drive

The problem is very bad. In my openion there is only one solution with this problem. all you need to do is to remove its plastic casing and then put your USB into thinner ( A liquid that can be found at paint stores). Then let it get dry for 5 to 6 hours. And you are done. now connect it to your pc and get your data. Don't forget to rate the solution. Thanks!

I hve PNY 4 gb abd have stored lot of pictures but i could not reterive the data pls help me that all very very imp data

I had the same problem once upon a time with a PNY CF card about 4years ago after I photographed an entire football game for an article Iwas doing. Everything I did kept telling me that the card was corruptedand I never could retrieve the photos. Someone told me to use a better card so I have never used a PNY cardagain and consequently have never had the problem again. Stay with SanDisk Extreme or whatever high end card you can find and you'll be much happier.

I know this is the "Close-the-barn-door" approach to not losing thehorses after they have already escaped but I have a possible solutionto rescuing your photos trapped on the card if nothing else works. Lookfor a card retrieval program on the internet. There are free ones andthere are pay ones. Free is worth nothing and the others are worth morebut start with free if you can find one. The one I used was (which wasn't free) and supposedly can even pull photosfrom damaged cards as well. I accidentally formatted a card beforegetting the photos off and the program retrieved all of those plus manyothers that were previuosly on it, all 39,000 of them, and it was onlya 4 GB card on a 8 MB camera! I think it was around $60 for the pay version but it justdepends on how valuable your photos are to you on that card. If yourinterested here's the link:

There is a free trial download offered but I don't know how many photos you have on the card so it may not get them all off.

GoodLuck-Steve A.
