You must be looking at the wrong camcorder. I've just taken the cover off that you suggested,, there were three screws not one as you said and you still can't see anything to do with the door. Any more ideas

If you press button and hear a noise, that the latch is jammed and will need to be pried open. If you pry it open it will usually work fine after. It actually helps re-align the doors gear timing when pulled open completely.
If you do not hear a noise, than the motor that release the door has burn out and you will need to pry the door open to get dvd out.

Also you can try turning off camera, press and hold eject button while powering up camera. Keep holding the button. Also make sure the batteries are NEW! Many cameras won't work with even a half dead battery.

I would remove the screws, remove covers and open manually. May need little flathead screwdriver to lightly pry apart.

  • Anonymous Apr 15, 2009

    Did it work for you?

  • Anonymous Apr 23, 2009

Pry it apart or remove the screws and take out tape that way. The gears timing is off which is a very common problem.

The question is whether or not any noise is heard when attempting to eject the DVD. If no noise is heard, the motor could be jammed and attempting to force or turn any gears could result in the mechanism getting out of alignment. Try removing any batteries and power to force a system reset. If the sensors are sending info to the internal CPU that are contradictory, the unit will freeze. The "hard" reset described above, will reset all of the sensor readings. If the unit continues to fail, please seek an authorized Hitachi service center for assistance. This is not a problem that is likely to resolved remotely.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

A tape won't eject. Try turning off the camera and then turning it on with the eject button pressed down. Remove all power (including lithium batteries) and leave the camera off for 30 seconds. Then reinstall the batteries and turn the camera on with the eject button held down.

You can also try resetting the device by removing the battery for about a half hour...

found that the cover plate around the flash hot shoe only has a single screw. If you remove it and pull up the cover you gain access to the gear and lock mechanism. Hit eject and if necessary press on the white gears you see in front of the zoom switch. It should then cause the door mechanism to unlock and open.

I have a Hitachi mega pixel dz-mv780e dvd cam and when i put a completed disc into my laptop it wont play, can you please advise what i need to do [email protected] Thank you

If the camcorder does finalize the disc? What type of disc is it? Some of the disc that work in that camcorder like a ram disc will not work in a regualr dvd player, only use -r disc's if you want to make a disc to use elsewhere. The other option is that the dvd camcorder needs the dvd drive replaced if it is still available. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions. There is also a firmware update available for that camcorder.

Disc eject on Hitachi DZ-GX5060E will not work

I've just received mine today from Argos Clearance Bargains (http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/argos-clearancebargains/) and had the same problem. I was already compoisng a strong complaint in my mind. Anyway I tried the reset method. Remove battery; open LCD screen;hold in reset buttona few seconds; reconnect battery; set to "off" and eject .... out popped a very dirty DVD-RW.

When I reinsterted it the problem recurred and I solved it the same way. I have now permenently removed the offending DVD and the cover opens and closes fine. I will buy some fresh DVDs this weekend and see if the problem returns.

Watch this space and also let me know how you get on,

Hitachi DZ-MV200A DVD Camcorder

You can get them at Best buy. You must buy the same disc as it is spelled out on the side of the camera. Buy, DVD-RAM/R. There are DVD+ and DVD-, you must be sure to buy just like it's printed on the camera (just under the viewfinder).

eject the disk and if it it empty just open the cd door. with the lense to the left and the door on the top. look into the device. You will see to the left side a metal platform that houses the dvd laser. take and push the platform all the way to the left. The platform fails to retract once you do this you should be able to use a disk like normal provide you have a dvd-r disk.

Hitachi DVD camcorder

The door might be stuck. Try "helping" it open manually after pressing the eject button. Otherwise, something is probably broken and you might have to call a repairman.

Can I play the DVD on the camcorder before it has been finalized?

Yes: DZ-MV380 and DZ-MV350 provide playback capability with non-finalizing DVD-R disc.
