Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

What is the maximum ram capacity of dimension 8200 motherboard

2 gygabytoes are usually the max, you could upgrade the OS to maybe Windows XP 64 bit, but this isn't worth it in such an olde machine! Throw it out and get yourself an ASUS laptop with Windows 7 64-bit, a solid state HD and 4 or more gigabytes of ram instead!.

Can i change out the motherboard on my dell dimension 4600 and use the one from my optiplex gx 520 in place of it.

No you can't. The Optiplex system board is a BTX type, and the Dimension uses an ATX style. The BTX board was supposed to be the new standard, with the layout changed to improve cooling air flow. Unfortunately, the I/O connectors (keyboard, etc.) aren't in the same place as on ATX boards, and you can't just drop the BTX board into the same case. (This is one of the reasons the new design didn't catch on. Seems people didn't like the idea of shelling out for a new case as well as the board.)

How do i install memory card in my dell computer dimensions

Here is a general video that should show the simple process. Don't be intimidated. It is a hard upgrade to screw up. There is only one type of slot you can put ram(memory) into so you will know if you are doing it correctly. Most ram slots are in the general area shown in the video on the largest board in the tower.

Ethernet Controller

Hi

E210882 is a number found on more than one Dell System Board. Dimension 8400 and 4600 come to mind. Possibly there are more. Secondly, E210882 is not a Dell Part number (DP/N or DS/N). While Dimension 8400 is a 775 socket, Dimension 4600 is a 478 socket. So they don't fall to the same family.

In any case the network controllers used on Dell System Boards are Intel and Broadcom.

To proceed, at least provide/confirm the system model. If this is not available, give the Dell Part Number.

CHILL WILL'S (motherboard E210882) WOES!!!

It seems like you have done everything right but im not 100% sure that your memory is correct. read through the description here carefully and you will see that this memory comes in two different packages. One of them is the 400 (the ones you bought) and another in the 333 flavor. I am hoping they did not make a mistake and gave you the wrong ones. Look directly at the memory and make sure. I am also including the system manual for your computer. Hope this helps.

Kingston's ValueRAM KVR400/1GR is a 128M x 64-bit (1GB) DDR400 CL3 SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) memory module. The components on the module include sixteen 64M x 8-bit (16M x 8-bit x 4 Bank) DDR333 SDRAM in TSOP packages. This 184-pin DIMM uses gold contact fingers and requires +2.6V. The product is shipped in retail packaging and includes installation instructions.

PC not starting

Sure hate saying this but your dell 4400 board is the trouble.
Just finished reading a bunch of post. Double check Dell's web site too. No lights lit on the back of the PC means no power & the green led you see on the board is telling you that the board has power.
Seems your not the only person with the same problem as with other 4400 owners.
One user called dell & stated the problem he had, (just like your problem), to the letter. Dell admitted there is a problem with the 4400's. mainboard. Dell does not go out & replace every board. They, like every company wait till someone has this type of problem & contacts the Mfg. Your 4400 was made back in what 2003 - 2004. If Dell still supplies your board the best they'll do is sell you a refurbished board.
I think your better off buying a new board & fitting into your Dell case. You can try to find a board that will run your current componets.
This is dell's web site link for the dell 4400.

Good luck & thanks for coming to FixYa.
