I can't find the wiring diagram for my whirlpool refridgerator.... MOD.#ET19RKXFN01 SER.#EG3222178. Can you please help. I need to change the defrost timer.....Thanks

I will try to locate a wiring diagram for your model ET19RKXFN01 but to change the defrost timer you will only need to know its location. Here is a link to the repair parts=> ET19RKXFN01_Repair_Parts_List
Go to page 5 of the repair parts list and you will see item number 4 Then on page 6 of the parts list you will see the timer part number beside the item 4. That is your defrost timer part number 2193084 Defrost Timer

Your refrigerator is an older model and may have the wiring digram in a packet behind the kick plate in the front near floor. Changing the defrost timer will not require use of a wiring diagram. Simply remove the old timer and replace the new defrost timer by plugging it into the wiring harness. The defrost timer can be found behind the control panel inside the fresh food compartment where the controls are located above the top shelf. If you have questions just let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

How to set the defrost duration on a timer

Copy following link for defrost timers:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#defrost

There are 2 general types defrost timers.
Time activated - Time terminated
Time activated - Temperature-pressure terminated, with timed termination back-up

Here is basic image:
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/8145-work-image.jpg
Rotate dial until current time lines up with pointer, insert tripper pin on outside edge of dial to select defrost start-time, move defrost duration tripper on inner dial to set termination time.

Each defrost timer is slightly different:
If timer is time-terminated, then wiring follows certain diagram.
If timer is temperature-pressure terminated, then different wiring diagram is used.

I have a paragon 8145-20 defrost timer. do you wire the compressor to the timer? I cant seem to find a wiring diagram on how to wire this correctly

Link below has wiring diagrams and wiring manuals for 240V 8145-20
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#defrost

I am not expert installing defrost timers.
According to information from Paragon, 8145 is for hot gas defrosting. 8140 series are time initiated, and pressure-or-temperature terminated.
Wiring diagram does not show compressor wired to timer.

The cycle works like this:
Timer is running but defrost is not switched ON.
Fan is ON.
Timer switches ON and activates defrost cycle.
Fan turns OFF. Hot gas valve turns ON for defrosting.
Cycle limit switch is temperature or pressure sensitive.
Cycle limit switch reaches trip point, timer switches OFF.
Hot gas valve turns OFF. Fan turns ON.
So fan is off during defrost cycle.
Hot gas valve turns ON when timer switches ON.
Timer is switched OFF by pressure-or-temperature limit switch.

Trying to replace a 8045-20 w/ 8145-20 need wiring info

The 8045-20 & 8145 are 240V timers.
My maintenance buddy at McDonalds says the defrost timers are interchangeable, BUT I have not wired these particular timers.
You may want to post your question to a paid answerer who specializes in refrigeration:

This being said:
The 8045 is for 'Electric Heat Defrosting'
The 8145 is for 'Hot Gas Defrosting'

I posted the manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/8000-series-defrost-sell-sheet.pdf

I also posted the 8145 and 8045 wiring side by side:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#8045

The wiring changeover looks like the following:
Hot1 on 8045 is connected to terminal N => move this wire to terminal 1 on 8145
There is a jumper plate on 8045 that connects terminals 1 N 2
Jumper plate on 8145 connects terminals 1 and 2
If jumper plate is missing on 8145, use jumper wire to connects terminals 1 and 2
Hot2 on 8045 is connected to terminal X => move this wire to terminal N on 8145
Other wires on 8045 that are connected to terminal X => move to terminal N on 8145
Thermostat on 8045 is connected to NC terminal 4 => move this wire to NC terminal 4 on 8145
Heater on 8045 is connected to NO terminal 3 => move this wire to NO terminal 3 on 8145
Terminal X on 8145 is bare since this goes to cycling limit switch which is not used on 8045

The wiring diagrams appears below:

You need someone to come in and trace the wiring if you cannot figure it out. You said you had the Paragon wiring diagram already, if not the link below can be used.

http://www.uni-line.com/images/docs/refrigeration-8140series-wiring.jpg

This defrost time can be used for both hot gas and electric heater defrosting so check to see which defrost type is being used.
