Question about Philips Magnavox 9P6034C 60" Rear Projection Television

Picuture shrinking color fading

For the 3rd time since I bought this projection tv in 2000 I've had to call the technician for service. He comes into the house, not before requesting to know the problem via phone, opens the rear of the tv installs a part and in less than 2 minutes, zooooom, the tv is like new, charges are around $200.00 for this service. This time I want to fix it myself. What is the small part number and location in the tv. I think that this ongoing problem in this set is widespread.

Color fading from left to right

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue with your TV. It may be an inverter board, or something internal having to do with the backlighting of the unit. I would recommend having the unit inspected by a technician.

Does it come and go? Or is it like this all the time? If you bump the side of the TV does it change the symptoms? Thanks Lou

Is the picuture tube messed up when you see double people and the color is faded

That usually means your convergence ics are going out. Replacing those will get rid of the double imageing. If the color is faded realy bad that means your tubes are going bad. That repair is pretty costly. Tvs over ten years are usually money pits.

MY SAMSUNG DLP MN HLP6163W PICUTURE HAS FADED

If you have had this unit for awhile it could just be the lamp. If the image does'nt brighten up you may have an issue with the light path. The color wheel produces the color. If there was an issue with the color wheel you would most likely have a black and white image.

Regular picture size shrinks and color fades

This is a common problem on certain models of Philips Magnavox TV sets. The most common symptom is the screen will shrink and expand over and over. After the TV heats up for a while the video will work like normal. After a few weeks or months your TV will eventually stop working and not have video. You can get complete parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com

PCN5425R Fading in and out

No It is not the picture tube.
First, I would suspect a bad solder connection (cold solder connection) to find this problem hit the side cassing to see if the picuture goes away or comes back.
Another way is take the back cover off and tap gently on the boards with something not conductive or your hair would look like mine. The most commond section is power supply and neer the Horizontal flyback transformor.
The horizontal transformor look at it, it's a big greyish darty little thing about 3" x 4" and stand up about 4" with a big red wire going out of it. Don't touch it, it has very high voltages, just look what it done to my hair I'm telling you don't touch it along with it's red lead's. Just look to see if it is arking if so replace it.

When you have convegence problem , it is mis aligment of the colours in the genmentry aligments.
I would suspect more in the power supply section.
