1. Unplug washer.
2. Remove the outer portion of the door bellow. This is the gray rubber boot around the door. Feel around the edge of the door bellow where it attaches to the front of the washer. You will find a wire retaining hoop in the seam between the rubber and the front case. Follow this wire hoop to the bottom of the door bellow and you will find a tension spring. Carefully, stretch this spring apart and remove the wire hoop.
3. Pull the rubber bellow from the door facing on the front of the washer being careful not to rip or tear it. Once removed, fold the rubber backwards inside the drum so you can access behind the front panel. DO NOT remove the rubber bellow from the wash tub.
4. The door latch assembly is located behind the front panel of the washer on the right hand side. Locate and remove the three screws on the washer front that hold the door latch assembly in place. The whole assembly should come free from the washer front and be held by a plastic mounting bracket and several wire connectors.
5. Carefully remove the latch assembly from the plastic mounting bracket BEFORE attempting to unplug any wires. It makes it much easier to access if you do.
6. Unplug the wire connectors using care not to break any of the wires. You may want to write them down, but I believe they will only plug into their respective slots.
7. Remove the old door latch and install the new one in the reverse order of the steps I just presented to you. Plug the wires back in first, then place the whole assembly back into the plastic mounting bracket, and then reattach to the front of the washer.
8. Now, when you get the reinstalling the rubber door boot, you may want to get the assistance of a second pair of hands as it can be difficult sometimes to manipulate the wire retainer back into place. Carefully reattach the rubber bellow to the door facing on the front of the washer first.
9. Starting at the top of the door bellow at the 12 o'clock position begin inserting the wire hoop back into the groove. Work your way around with both hands to the 4 and 8 o'clock positions. (This is where you could use those second pair of hands). While holding a slight downward tension on the wire hoop to keep it in place, pull the tension spring apart enough to snap the remaining part of the hoop into place at the bottom. Once you've completed these steps make sure the door closes and latches properly. NEVER slam a door with an electronic latch. They can break easily.

Now plug the washer back in and test operate. NOTE: You can run diagnostics on these washers by referring to the tech sheet provided by the manufacturer. The tech sheet is located behind the lower panel under the door, or along the interior cabinet walls. Included, are instructions on how to run diagnostics and troubleshooting tips associated with the list of fault codes. It is recommended that this tech sheet remain inside the washer to prevent it from being lost.

F 11 code flashing

The F-11 error code is a communication error between the main control and the motor control. I recommend unplugging the washer and removing the access panels.

Fdl error code because it is usually associated with the F11 code. The FdL fault code indicates that you have a problem with the door lock assembly. This is often caused by a failed door lock but it can also be caused by a failed wiring harness connection or in some instances by a failed control board.
Check for damage to the door hook on the washer door and look for anything that could be clogging the catch on the door lock assembly on the front panel of the washer.
You may need to check the wire harness connections on the door lock assembly. The images below show the procedure for accessing the door lock assembly on this type of washer. Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components.

I have seen the failure be caused by a door lock and a faulty machine control board. A little trick I have found is to remove the top of the washer and push down lightly on the connector that is labeled dls5 this connector should have four black wires. This connector is located on the machine control board under the top. Use an insulated screwdriver to push on the connector and start a cycle. If the door locks and the washer works, I recommend replacing the machine control. It has a bad solder joint on the board. We often see error code F11 also with bad solder joints on the control board. If pushing on the connector did not make a difference, I would suspect a faulty door lock first.

Hope this helps.

Pushed start button to begin cycle. washer started beeping and display was flashing F and the DL repeatedly. unplugged washer for a long time, opend and closed door. also checked water pump screen in the...

If the door fails to lock after six (6) attempts "Fdl" will display. The "Fdl" error code indicates the door failed to lock or the control does not detect the door being locked. The likely failure is the door lock mechanism. There is always a chance there could be a loose wire connection between the door lock mechanism and the Central Control Unit (CCU) causing the error too.

When pushing start, washer beeps 3 times but won't start

Hi,

Is the machine showing a "code" like FdL or F11 in the window where the numbers count down? The machine won't start because it thinks there's a problem. FdL and F11 are often times the codes most displayed when the machine beeps and won't start. FdL means a door lock problem and F11 means a motor or motor control board problem. If it's flashing either one of those codes the problem is most often the CCU circuit board in the machine (inside, top, back, plastic case) The CCU circuit board has what's called cold solder joints causing bad communication between the CCU and the door lock and/or the motor or motor control board. The cure for this is to remove the case with the circuit board then remove the circuit board and resolder the points on the circuit board where the spade connectors and relays (5 of them) connect to the circuit board. If you're good with soldering techniques the job is easy. If not, take the board in the case to a good appliance repair shop (along with this response) and they should be able to help you out. Good luck.

Cycle not complete- time blinking won't start all buttons work- wont lock and continue cycle

I've had this problem befor. You will need to turn off power to the washer to reset it. After power is restored try another load (empty) if it happens again see if any codes come on in place of the time. It does sound like there's a communication problem between the CCU (the control circuit board in the machine) and the door lock, if so a FdL code will show up. If so the CCU board is at fault. There is cold solder joints on the board where the relays and spade connectors are supposed to be soldered to the board (bad quality control at Whirlpool) If the FdL code comes up or the code F11 you'll need to remove the board and touch-up those solder joints. If your not up to it just print out this response and show it to a good service person, they should be able to help. Good luck.

Washer keeps flashing f 11 and wont tumble

STOP the insanity....that's what you're saying if you encounter the F11 and/or fDL error codes on your washer. If you're not there yet, you will be soon....
The dreaded F11 and/or fDL codes - been there done ALL that!! Our Whirlpool DUET washer is just over 5 years. We experienced our first F11 code 6 months ago (warranty just expired what else is new?). When it first happened, I thought nothing of it - hit the cancel button and the machine reset itself. Then it happened again and again and again. Each time it happened it was more challenging to reset it. I searched for the fix on line - I should have done my research before we purchased the washer.
I was able to determine the error was stemming from the CCU board. Order a new one at over $300.00 and have the same thing happen again - I don't think so. We tried EVERYTHING suggested on multiple websites.....unplugging the washer, hitting the right upper side, checking wires, wiggling the wires, wedging things to improve contacts, soldering, re-soldering, Vaseline, changed relays....anything and everything was a temporary fix. Contact Whirlpool directly? Tried that too, they apparently don't recognize there is an issue with F11 fDL errors, "not a commonly called in concern". Really?? We started searching washers to purchase....I couldn't bare spending $$$ for another washer, but we are a busy active family with 4 kids - what are our options? Then one night after searching the websites for one last desperate attempt at salvaging our washer, I followed through on a link:

email: selling.surplus@gmail.com

Now, I'm the biggest sceptic in the world and the most frugal consumer - really I am. I am posting my testament to this service because I've been there - frustrated, disappointed, angry. I am so pleased with the service Ed provided - from answering all my questions, to the superb job he did on the CCU. You can review all the comments posted by all his other pleased customers on eBay. I had to stand by my washer for the first 6 loads - just in case the beep beep beeps started. To my astonishment, amazement, and surprise - it never happened!! In my opinion, this is the only true fix for your F11/Fdl error!!
I never imagined in my wildest dreams ever telling anyone how happy I am to be doing my laundry again, but I really am!!

Whirlppool front loading washer won't start, code FdL, door can be opened

"Fdl" is a door latch FAILURE error code. What the error is telling you is that something is malfunctioning with the electronic door latch and/or interconnecting wire or Central Control Unit. It is recommended that you check the wiring harness connected to the door latch or, replace the door latch. The following link explains how:

If you have any questions or concerns please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Random electrical problems, sometimes it works beautifully, sometimes not!

F11 = Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the
Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.
.
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and
Central Control Unit (CCU).
3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components.
4. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any
cycle.
6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor.
7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations.
8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted
upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the
MCU connectors.

FDL=
A Door Lock Error occurs if the door cannot be locked. It will try to lock
it six times before displaying the error code.
Le code d’erreur “Verrouillage porte” apparaît s’il n’est pas possible de verrouiller la
porte. Le système effectue six tentatives de verrouillage avant d’afficher le code d’erreur.
■ Door lock mechanism is broken or removed from door.
■ Door switch/lock unit failure.
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check door switch/lock unit.
3. Check the wire harness connections to the door
switch/lock unit and Central Control Unit (CCU).

Kenmore elite he3 - door lock

If sound like a lid switch issue. Open the top of the washer to get an access to the lid switch(located near the doorframe). Look for a loose wire or a broken switch. In case there is no loose wire or broken switch, you should replace the switch. Good luck!
