SOURCE: ink pad woes

Sorry to be a few days in getting back to you. We had a death in the family and settling all the affairs has occupied most of my time for most of this past month or so. All is settled now, except for the memories.

As to your question, there is some variance from one maker to another and from one model to another.

I believe in your case, excess ink is carried out a flow tube to a reservoir and after printing a fixed number of times the Epson software gives you a warning message that the ink tank is full and to empty it.

Is this the case in your model? You are not seeing absorber pads?

When the print head cartridge is at rest a platform rises to seal off the print heads and prevent them from drying out. It is this platform that has the excess ink overflow tube that runs to a reservoir.

So, let me know if I'm spot on or way off base and if the later, give me a hint as to what you are seeing and what the problem happens to be. I'll be glad to help you get through this and if need be I can bring another expert into this discussion.

Sounds like you knocked the vacuum pipe off at the pump cap when you had it apart. Take it apart again and check the vacuum pipe for connection, blockages and being trapped between cases when you reassembled it.

This occurs if the CD/DVD tray is open. Check if the tray is in place and try again.

Error code "E27" indicates that your waste ink absorber is full or platen waste ink absorber
is full. The instructions to fix this problem are listed below, follow them closely.

Two absorber pads are located on the right side of the printer, under the ink cartridges. With the printer on, lift the top to expose the cartridges. They will automatically move out of the way. You can move them to the left side by hand if the printer is not on. You will probably need a flashlight to see the pads. They each sit in a rubber retainer. The pads can be removed very easily and cleaned. Take the pads out of the retainers with tweezers. They clean up nicely with warm water but you can use something like Simple Green if they are stubborn. It is best to use a spray bottle (on stream) and blast it through the pad until it is white. Sometimes just putting it under a running faucet will do the trick. If there is ink in the rubber retainer after taking the pad out, it can be cleaned up with a paper towel. Put the pads back into the retainers and you have successfully cleaned the ink absorbers. Now you may have to reset the error message so you can get back to printing. This is how to do it.How to clear E27 Code

  • With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding the Stop/ Reset button.
  • When the Power is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
  • When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
  • When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s) according to the function listed in the table below.(Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in orange and green, starting with orange.)note: press 4 times for waste ink counter reset.
The number of the Reset button pressing LED Function Remarks

1 time-Orange Service pattern print (auto teste)
2 times-Green EEPROM print (dados da EEPROM)
3 times-Orange EEPROM reset (EEPROM reset)
4 times-Green Waste ink counter reset (Absorvente reset)
Turn off the printer, then turn it on again

I hope this clears up your problem.

Ink absorber almost full

This issue with Canon Printers occurs when the Waste Ink absorber becomes full or sometimes due to sensor error.

To clear this error you can first try to clean the waste ink collector pads. Before proceeding please turn off your printer and unplug it from power source.
To locate these pads open the cover of the printer, move the cartridges with your hand. Now you can use a absorbent paper towel to clean these pads. These pads are on the right side of the cartridges.

After this you'll need to restart your printer. This will resolve your issue.

Ink absorber replacement options - MP130 or how do I clean it? It is almost full according to error message

Removing & Cleaning the Absorbent pads.

The printer has 2 ink absorber pads that are located under the ink cartridges.

1. With power off the head assembly / cartridges can be moved into the middle for access.
2. Each of the 2 ink absorber pads are seated in a rubber retainer. The pads can be easily removed cleaned or replaced.
3. Carefully remove the pads using long nose pliers or tweezers.
4. Clean the using with running warm water, or use an isopropyl alcohol bath, or an isopropyl alcohol based aerosol if they are really dirty. DO NOT USE ANY SURGICAL SPIRIT OR ANY OIL BASED CLEANERS. At a push you can use a warm water mild washing up liquid bath but be sure to thoroughly rinse out the solution after cleaning. The pads should be white when they are clean.
5. Dry the pads – it may take some time and placing them in a warm environment or near a warm radiator will speed this up.
6. Clean away any ink on the retaining rubbers using a cotton bud or clean and soft lint free cloth.
7. Replace the DRY pads in the rubber retainers.
8. Replace the Ink cartridges.
9. Power on the printer and print a test page and clean and realign the heads as required.
10. If the E27 error message reappears then you will need to reset this.

All the inks in my mp600 printer are working

Check the cleaning pad underneath where the heads park. Center the heads and remove the pad (wear rubber gloves--really messy!!!). Wash it out in detergent and hot water, rinse, and allow to dry out. Reinstall and try the head cleaning routine again. If still unsuccessful, replace the cartridge.

Error code 5C00, Canon Selphy DS810

It means that the purge assembly, thats the cleaning unit where the printhead parks when off on the right, is jammed and cannot move.Look for paper or foreign material stopping it from moving. Sometimes the squeegee unit needs to be pushed back if the pads get stuck under it...

Carrage jam - error message

if you have had this for some time, the ink pads and their well may be clogged with dried ink. look at those. If so, you will have to take them out and clean out the well, then the ink heads should move freely.
