Question about Dell Inspiron 1521 Notebook

1 Answer

Right half of Inspiron 1521's screen is dark

The right half of my Inspiron 1521's display is noticeably darker than the left half, as if the backlight is failing on one side only. What could be causing this and how can it be fixed?

They there, it could already be a problem with the LCD if you stil have warranty call dell at 1 800 822 8965 - or try this hold down Fn then press the power button it will run diagnostics on your pc. if its still the same under diagnostics then it only means your LCD needs to be replaced.

if this helps please rate..

thanks

Inspiron e1505 screen in darker on the right side

Hi

Thank you fr your query

From what you are describing it sounds like the LCD screen is starting to burn out

Please try the following

1) Switch on laptop
2) Continuously press the F8 key until a start up menu is presented
3) Chsoos safe mode from the options
4) Once safe mode has laoded up check the screen to see if it is still dark

I believe it will be.

If it is you will need to book the laptop into a reputable PC shop to replace LCD screen

If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again

Dull laptop screen back light

You may have a faulty CCFL lamp. A faulty CCFL lamp may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering and/or with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight or a faulty inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp. Usually the CCFL lamp fails before the inverter.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Dark area on left side of screen of Dell Inspiron 1525

ok , i have had this problem on bolth my dell inspiron laptops , on a 6400 and a 1525 . the 6400 had the lower left corner all dark and the 1525 was split right down the center . i fix bolth of em in a really simple way , turn on ur pc and go into windows , press the blue Fn button and the down arrow untill ur brightness from ur backlight is completely down . keep it that way with the screen on with a screen saver for about one hour then turn brightness back up but not all the way up cuz in my case the problem hapened again , but when i keep it just one click darker , boom problem fixed . from what i can figuere out is that the inverter aint powerfull enought to power the backlight and tends to over heat , so keeping the backlight a bit lower tend the keep em ok

The left side of my Dell inspiron screen is darker than the right. Changing the brightness only changes the brightness proportionately. any suggestions

You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp.
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Dell inspiron 6400 screen is fading

Sounds like the backlight is going out. Youĺl need to replace the LCD screen. You can find them on ebay. Just make sure you purchase the correct one for your laptop. You will need to take out the screen to see who makes it and the number. Go to dell.com/support to find your manual, if you feel like you can do it yourself.

Good Luck!

Hp dv6149us right half of LCD is dark, left half is OK

Sorry to say, I had a similar problem except my screen was upper/lower not left/right. If the drivers and hardware appear fine then it is the screen or connection to the screen. If under warranty send it in now! If not you may need to buy a replacement screen. Shop around for prices AND other solutions- (not being there to give it hands-on care) I may be mistaken.
