Generic problem for all Memorex DVD Players

Hi I just installed a Memorex external drive to my HP desk top following the set up instructions. The instructions say to "Follow The On Screen Instructions to Complete the Installation". I never got any on screen instructions. I rebooted, and still no instructions. It does not work.
I need help!!!
Same exact problem and these suggestions are not working. Any other ideas?

Are you using a set-up disc of some sort? (Driver disc?) If you are, then I can guess what happened...

How does it get power, It's own electric cord and transformer?
You received an install disk with it or it is an OEM model?

I assume you are running windows. Windows installs external devices automatically. You need to reset your USB devices. You need to uninstall all your usb devices. Go to computer manager/device manager and select all USB devices and unistall them. Go to the start menu, click on run type compmgmt.msc. Find all your USB devices on the right side. Follow the instructions for each device to uninstall them by double clicking and then select uninstall. once you uninstall, click on the icon to scan for hardware changes located on the sub menu. Your operating system should recognize new hardware or reboot and the operating system should install them automatically again.Do not connect the device until you are logged on completely, connect it and the operating system should recognize the new hardware and install it automatically. Try this, I hope it helps.

How to remove dvd/rw fro hp compaq 100b sff desk top pc?

Go to device manager scroll to DVD drives and disable it.
If you delete it, it will only re install the drivers upon any restart. Otherwise just open the PC ( shut it down first) dis connect the cables to the DVD.

Transferring Win 7 from laptop to external

You cant do that. The only thing I have seen and tried is to create an image of Windows 7 on a thumb drive, and it was not an easy task.
I suggest to get an external DVD drive, plug it into the PC and install. . . . . . . . Hey wait a minute!, I just noticed "my PC has a DVD player only". if its a DVD player and not a CD player, it will read the Windows 7 DVD, you may have to change the Boot Priority setting for the PC to boot from DVD before booting from the hard drive.

I want re install windows vista in my computer

To reinstall Windows Vista, 1. Backup your data, if possible. 2. Insert your Windows Vista DVD into your DVD drive, selecting the 32-Bit or 64-Bit, depending on the system. If you are not sure, use the 32-Bit DVD. 3. Turn on your computer, press the key that lea you t your BIOS setup, usually the DEL, F2 or F10 Keys. 4. Find your boot sequence options, and set your DVD drive to boot first. 5. Save changes, restart the computer, make sure the DVD is in the DVD drive. 6. Follow the on-screen instructions, entering your product key, and other information requested. 7. Format your main hard drive if installing to first hard drive, or format the partition you are installing to. 8. Select the drive or partition you want to install to and click next. 9. Wait for system to finish install, system will reboot a couple times. Make sure to take out the DVD after the first reboot. 10. Let setup finish, after final reboot, follow onscreen instructions to create a user account, and other options. 11. Customize and put your files back if needed and enjoy!

Hi i have a porbolem with my hp pavilion dv5000 so i wanna reformat it and i dont know why

To reformat your HP machine, you need the recovery disks...This article tells you how to create them....Note...they can only be created ONCE from your machine.....so make sure you do it correctly:

http://www.pctechbytes.com/hp/hp-recovery-cd-creation

Next.... BACK UP your data...and TEST it.....make sure your data is working on your backup media....formatting the drive will erase all your data and start over from a fresh copy of Windows.

After that you need to boot your PC from the recovery disk (if it doesn't ask you to boot from the CD you will need to hit F10 key at your HP splash screen to enter the system BIOS. Find the boot order setting and change it so the CD/DVD drive is on top)

After you successfully boot from the DVD, you can pretty much follow the on screen instructions. The following page has more information on reinstalling Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/help/install-reinstall-uninstall

Good Luck...be careful, but don't be afraid :) as long as you have good backups you should be all good.

Hp 1020n desk top will not boot from disk and i have been thruogh all the bios stuff and read about all the fixs for that.. it will not read the windows 7 cd either version.. we are upgrading from xp and...

The first thing to do is get the DVD drive to work as Win 7 is a DVD. If your CD player plays CDs then maybe a new drive is required before you can go anywhere.
External DVD drives are £20 ish so not too bad.
Hope that helps.

C drive is too small , need to re-partition it.all my space is on d drive .this is a gateway all in one desk top and I started having this problem when it was 2 weeks old.

You should backup all your data to external drive or cd/dvd and then do a clean install repartitioning the drive.

If the system did not come with recovery disks and have them on a hidden partition, you should create the disks AND verify them first.

I have just purchased a HP 2133 mini-note. On first installation, installation failed and now it just loops and wont do anything. How can I facilitate first installtion bearing in mind there are no disks...

The majority of these PCs have a recovery partition on the internal hard drive, here is the instructions for using it.
Recovering information using Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)
Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) can perform a recovery from either an optional external hard
drive or from recovery discs.
CAUTION: Using Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) will completely erase hard drive contents
and reformat the hard drive. All files you have created and any software installed on the computer will
be permanently removed. When reformatting is complete, the recovery process will restore the operating
system, as well as the drivers, software, and utilities from the backup used for recovery.
To initiate recovery using WinRE, follow these steps:
NOTE: This process will take several minutes.
1. If possible, back up all personal files.
2. Restart the computer, and then press f8 before the Windows operating system loads.
3. Select Repair your computer.
NOTE: The "Repair your computer" option is displayed only if the WinRE partition is intact. If the
option is not displayed, refer to “Recovering information using a Windows Vista operating system
DVD (purchased separately).”
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Click Next.
6. Select your user name, type your password (if applicable), and then click OK.
7. If you are using recovery discs, insert the last disc of the recovery disc backup set.
NOTE: Inserting the last disc of the backup set confirms the presence of a valid backup. If you
insert any other disc, the backup will not be recognized.
– or –
If you are using an optional external hard drive, connect it to the computer.
8. Click Windows Complete PC Restore.
9. Follow the on-screen instructions.

this is getting long , so ill will post more steps in comment.....
