Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

When I turn on my TV the color is scrambled. Up until now it would clear up after about 30 minutes and the color would be right but today I have had it on several hours and the color is still blotchy. I called a repsir service and they indicated it might be the main board and would cost me about $700.00 to repair. What say you?

If it is rear projection TV then most probably it has problem in convergence board. Upon correct info of model and brand, I will check its schematics and will guide you.

If this TV is under warranty then ask for warranty cover.
Out of warranty TV should not cost $700 as its near to new TV price.
I would recommend to call Shop Jimmy for required board as they supply many brands of LCD TV boards on very very low prices.
    Good luck.

- Picture scrambled when set is

The TV has a bad board. It's called the Hyper board. It has been discontinued by Toshiba years ago so it is not an option to replace it. There are some TV repair shops that can rebuild this board by replacing most or all of the capacitors in it. You may want to call your local shop and see if they can do.

Mitsubishi #VS-45605

We had a blue cone on the screen. We have adjusted the sharpness, contrast, and cross hairs. The cone has almost completely disappeared, but we still have blue shadows. Could this mean a blown color tube?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like you have a frame fold-over fault, does banging the tv have any effect (slightly bang the set on the sides), if it does then its more than likely a dry joint, check all around the frame output chip, hope this is of some help to you

Sounds like from what your describing, a horizontal sync problem and there are a few capacitors in this model that does cause that. If your not a tech this is something you should mess with as the way to trouble shoot this problem would be by using a scjhemetic, a isolation transformer and an ocilliscope. its a possiblity that you could also have a tune rproblem thats giving the sync separator circuit a weak sync pulse from the video its putting out. Good Luck
