If you have another computer, you can remove your old HDD and "slave" it into another computer on the IDE channel and browse to your thesis, if you dont have another computer, you will need to find either a friend who does or take it to a shop to have the data retreieved

Hard Drive Crash - wants to re-install how to retrieve data to laptop computer

If the HDD has failed you can't retrieve the data off the failed drive. You can send the HDD into a data recovery company and they will read the disk in the drive and put the info on DVD and sent it to you, but that is the only way. The service is quite expensive. Just do a google search for failed hard drive data recovery.

Dell hard drive had gone failure know need to data recover?

Remove the hard drive and put it into an enclosure.Plug it into another computer as a slave. Then you can copy your files on it.
If it shows up in 'my computer' as a drive letter(like E: drive) but you can't access it,you can recover data from hard drive with data recovery program.Tenorshare data recoveryis a professional data recovery software that can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data due to drives crash, physical damage, system sabotage, virus attack etc.You can get it here: http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoveryprofessional.htm After you recover your data, you can format it to check out whether it can be fixed.
If the hard drive can't be detected, you can try this way.Put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in the freezer for overnight. Then while it's still cold plug it into the computer and you may be able to view it in 'my computer'. And if needed, run the recovery program to recover your data on it.
If it fails, you will have to go to a recovery office where supply data recovery service but let's hope not because it will cost you a lot of money and whether they can recover data is not guaranteed.

My hardisk showed 2000-0146 error and it got replaced with new harddisk.. can i recover data from my old harddisk?

Try connecting the hard drive to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a computer's USB port. The computer should see it as an external storage device and you can open the various folders and files to backup your data.
If the computer cannot detect the hard drive as an external device then the hard drive is faulty.
If the hard drive makes a clicking noisy then it is definitely faulty and replacing the circuit board cannot fix this problem.
There are companies that can retrieve data from a faulty hard disk BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

After not using my laptop for sometime,i can't have access to the O.S,how do i have access to it.i badly need to access my data

If the laptop cannot boot up then to retrieve your data then remove the hard drive from the laptop and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter. Then plug the adapter into a working computer's USB port. This computer will detect this as an external storage device. You can then click on this device and open the folders and files to copy and backup your data files.

if you are experiencing these and unsure on what to do, better take your laptop a laptop tech, if you feel that you needed a hard drive change, then take it to a tech, have them replace your old hard drive

Laptop is dead; can I still retrieve data from hard drive?

You can remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter or an USB hard drive adapter case and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If this computer sees it as an external hard drive then you can copy your data off this hard drive. If it doesn't see the hard drive, then it is faulty. There are companies that can recover data from faulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.
If the hard drive is OK you can put the hard drive into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an USB hard drive.

This is generally a hard drive failure. Do a check dist or hard drive test in the bios. If any part of the test fails, then the hard drive is bad and will need replaced. As far as data retrieval, you will have to take or send the hard drive to a shop that does retrieval from dead drives.
