Possibility is the that the engineers of your POS Software company are right, but we can definitely prove them wrong provided we test and, or check the same POS software or setup on a similar brand new computer.

How do I add CR to Barcode Value?

<p>The primary purpose of bar codes is to encode the unique characteristics of numbers and letters can be in a format that machines can easily read. However, bar codes are read by people often also for this reason, the codes generally include both parties readable and legible. The most popular bar codes meet a standard called "Code 39". The latest version of the code with 39 additional characters called "Extended Code 39." Among other characters, Extended Code 39 allows users to include carriage returns (CR) in bar codes. <br /> <p><br /> <p>1. How do I get my scanner to go to the next line/box when using Excel?

Hello,

In your programming manual there is a barcode scan that needs to be scanned in that adds the carriage return function. To do this you will first need to scan the barcode to put the unit into program mode, then scan the carriage return barcode, then scan the end programming code. Now when you scan a barcode the scanner will add the return to the sequence it sends to the computer. If you can't find your programming book you can download the sheets from the Symbol web site.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Problems with M2004 Barcode Scanner

If your M2004 is connected with an RS-232 cable such as the CBA-R01-S07ZAR or the 25-32465-20R the scanner defaults to sending data at 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, software or hardware handshaking. Is it possible the software needs to see a carriage return after the data? If so, Scan Options, Data Suffix, Enter from Adobe page 135 and 136 of 310 of the M2000 Series Product Reference Guide will make the scanner send a carriage return line feed (7013). If your program needs just a CR then scan the Scan Suffix barcode from page 134 of 310 followed by a 1, a 0, a 1 and a 3 from page 175 of 310.

If this does not help or if you are connected any other way and the CRLF does not help it may be a good idea to contact the Motorola support center for assistance. Their phone number is 800-653-5350.

Manual carriage return necessary after scanning barcode

With the Symbol scanners, they usually come with a sheet at least of scan codes to configure the scanner. One of those bar codes will have the option of not needing to manually hit the carriage return. What model scanners are they? You can probably find the codes from Symbol.
