Re: genuine vista changed to xp?
Just stick with vista, its faster, better and smarter and yes webcam isnt compatible with xp some other drivers too like sound and video.
it is tuff now but give it few days and you get used to it and the more you use it the more you like it besided vista or windows 95 its only an operating system and its just a tool to use your applications
to go to xp, buy xp license for about $100 and install it.

indows Genuine Advantage Notifications for Windows XP notifies you if a copy of Windows XP is not genuine. The notification messages only appear on computers that have failed the WGA validation process and that are running a copy of Windows XP that is not genuine. If you are running a validated, genuine copy of Windows XP, you will not receive notification messages. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905474
If you have no support discs & did not make a recoverty disc then you will have to contact the retailer you purchased the laptop from or Acer themselves. You should have documentation that will detail your product key though without this you may have issues getting the genuine copy of vista reinstalled. An alternative would be to buy a copy of windows 7 (if your laptop can take it) as it is far more stable & streamlined than Vista. or get a genuine copy of XP for cheaper.
Its probably also a good idea to take it back to the local computer guy & demand he reinstalls vista or gives you a genuine copy of XP. You can report him to the police for distributing illegal software too.
How do I downgrade?
Install a copy of Windows XP Professional with the product key that came with the copy, and then when you hit the activation screen - which is near the end of the installation process - select the activate by phone option rather than the online method. You'll likely end up talking with a live rep; tell him that you're downgrading from Vista to XP, and give him the Vista product key. The rep is supposed to walk you through the rest.

if you have installed vista and change it to xp, you should first delete or reformat your current OS (Operating System) which I believe is the ur vista.
-insert your xp disk then press F8
-click format or delete files ( i don't know the exact message that will appear on the screen)
-then install windows XP (just follow the instruction that you will see on the screen)
