How to use the motorola talkabout 101

The Talkabout 101 is a very basic walkietalkie radio. With good batteries installed in the battery compartment, you should be able to turn the radio on, and simply press the front-center push-to-talk (PTT) button and speak. Release the button after speaking so the other person can do the same to talk back to you.

If you are having trouble opening the battery compartment, pull down on the black u-shaped sides and the back portion of the radio will slide down with the u-shaped sides to reveal the compartment. (This would be one of the most common questions asked on this style radio.)

Best regards.

How to open my Motorola for repair

Here is a link to the T5720 user guide. The only removable section of the radio is the battery door (pg 14). Once you are in the battery compartment you will see some tork screws which when removed will allow access to the component board. FYI: There are no user replaceable parts in this style radio, as parts are not available from the manufacturer.

Best regards.

Instructions say use coin to open battery compartment. I have tried with no success. Help

On the FRS250 the U-shaped sides are attached to the back portion of the radio (usually black in color). If you grasp the sides and pull down firmly, the entire piece will slide down and off the radio exposing the battery compartment.

Best regards.

I don't know how to get to the battery

On the back of these GRMS radios, there is a latch at the bottom of the casing. Remove the belt clip by pushing it up, then release the latch at the bottom of the radio to open the battery compartment.

The battery door will flip up then pull it down and off. Reverse to replace and battery installation.

Opening battery compartment on Midland LXT80 2-way radios

First take the clip off by pulling the tab while sliding it down. Then once the clip is off, push in and down on the top of the battery compartment and it should come off.

I just went to replace the batteries in my 250's after 7 years of sitting unused and I also had to PRY the battery compartments off after wrestling with them for 15 min. to no avail & very sore hands LOL. Just take a medium sized flat blade screw driver, place it between the sides of the cover split and give a small downward TWIST, then do the same in the middle of the back of the compartment to break them loose then you can pull them straight off. I used a TINY dab of HAND CREAM and rubbed it along the inside SIDES of the compartment before replacing and now they come off nice & easy but are still very secure for future battery changes !
