I have a Toshiba Satellite A305D-S6851, and I am receiving a recovery error: 10-FA11-045D. This error occured while an estimated 8-9 minutes left in the installation process. I have a recovery CD suited for Vista 32 SP1. Should I remove all partitions, and how will this affect the hard drive?

This error comes up if the toshiba recovery cannot recognise the file system and partitions. try removing all partitions using the fdisk utility or a windows XP CD and then run the recovery.

All documents, programmes and data on the disc cannot be easily restored as they have been deleted. There are several companies that offer a restore service but can be very expensive.

I am trying to recover a Toshiba Satellite Pro A210-EZ2203X with the recovery discs. I got the wrong machine error. In the meantime I installed a copy of Windows XP home that I had for another computer....

OK were the Recovery Discs made by you or did they come with the computer? If you made them I've seen the user created recovery discs fail countless times. Normally there might be a partitioned disc on your hard drive that has the Toshiba Recovery on it. You would get to hit by hitting a function key when you boot the machine. But you might have wiped it out once you installed Windows XP if you formatted the drive.

I think you are going to need an Operating System Disk that has the same operating system that came with your computer. Your Certificate Of Authentication (COA) key is probably on the bottom of the laptop or insde the battery case. Once you load the operating system it will prompt you at some point for the Key on the COA sticker so it can activate windows. The key is a series of 5 letters and number combinations. Hopefully it is readable on your sticker. If you have Windows Vista Home Premium you can't reinstall with a Windows Vista Home Basic. You need your exact operating system.

Toshiba media recovery satellite l300 series windows vista home premium disk doesn't work it gets stuck on a black screen with a mouse cursor

Try cleaning the disk in soap and water / dry with a microfiber cloth or cotton towel . Then try your disk. If you don't get the proper response then I suspect a corrupt data disk or a malfunctioning DVD.

Toshiba Satellite L305-S5875; Recovery Error 10-fc12-045d HELP!!

no it is not fried. you just need to find a vista disk and use that instead of the recovery disks. Once you reinstall Vista you should be able to go online for the Toshiba drivers. Make sure you have the windows Vista Key which should be located under the laptop. the vista software install will ask for it.

I cannot create my recovery cd... in vista Hp laptop

This is a known issue. Remove the Vista Service Pack 1 and then try creating the Recovery Disc.

After creating the Recovery Disk, reinstall the Vista Service pack 1.

If you contact Toshiba, they can send you the original restore disks. If you are really nice to them, they might send them out for free.. I believe normally they do charge but they sent them to me for free a couple of years ago with my Toshiba laptop :)
