Question about HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have been unable to scan or copy off my printer. I can print ok but nothing happens when I try to use either of these functions. I have a slight crack in the glass and I'm wondering if that would have anything to do with it. It worked for a while after the crack happened but all of a sudden it isn't which is why I'm unsure if they are related. Please let me know if you think this could be the problem and how I can go about getting new glass for it. Thank you.
Thanks for the tip...the problem is NOT a black line but a wide yellow line on the right side of the paper. It starts out about a quarter of the page in width and diminishes in size to about a half inch in width after many repeated scans.
The glass IS clean , and even when the glass had some smudges here and there, I never had a yellow stripe problem!
Scanner bulb is bright and even the entire length of bulb (no dark areas) so I don't think it is the bulb!

I had the same problems some months ago. I only solved it when I deleted the printer settings from my computer and reinstalled the software, making sure that I installed all the components from the CD. Also make sure that the printer is on fax default setting when you are using it as fax. You can check this by going to My Computer then Control Panel, then choose Printers and Other Hardware then choose Printers and Faxes. You can then set as default hp Officejet 5500 series fax. Hope these suggestions help.
